Four days had passed. In that evening time Altan was almost lost to the title of power. The ever brooding subordinate seemed to have disappeared and in his place a silent alpha who was just as good as host as the previous.

There had been a surprising turnout, he hadnt expect this many people to show. They were Nesar's allies but this was proof to him was that they were partially fickle and were rather loyal to the pride.

So if Ilona took over, they would side with her. So as the night progressed he started calculating, going over this new equation simultaneously with the other. Dying wouldn't be wise, because Ilona carries his child.

And after he spent the rest of the party looking for Nuria, very discretely too. Little mentions of alliances and a mention of joining prides were made. Through those, he found her out in the varanda he first reveal him self to her. She sat with two flutes of champagne and was nursing one as she looked out into the space in front of her.

"There you are," he started.

"Eager aren't we?" she handed him the second glass and clinked them together. "Kitty booze is better than angel booze. That I can tell you." Altan watched as she downed the rest of her glass.

He followed suite almost compulsively, once he had downed the rest of the glass he summed up the courage to say it. "Nuria, I'm so sorry but I need to withdraw our agreement." he sat down across from her and planted the glass in the floor. "I realized what I asked of you was not only selfish, but irresponsible." he watched as the expression on her face changed.

"Altan..." he watched her as she whispered his name. "Do you know what you have done?"

"That's why I'm stopping it now,"

Nuria blinked at him, it was too late anyway. Altan had had his share of the poison, no need freaking him out it would cause too much trouble.

Panic and commotion is the last thing they needed, "it's quite hard getting out of a contract like this." She finished her glass hoping it would give her the buzz she hoped for.

Altan nodded and face her completely, she noticed how his blinking had slowed and become sluggish. "Altan, could you accompany me to my car. I wanna drop of my weapon now that it's useless."

He nodded and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, he led her around the house not bothering to go through the door. Nuria took in her surroundings and nearly cursed as Altan's stepping wavered.

They reached the Mercedes when he stopped an stood up straight, "what kind of weapon needs to stay in the car?" his words were meshing.

"Damn, you wanted that shit to hurt. Wasn't it gonna be enough that I would be lingering?" Nuria opened the boot and ignored him. She moved things around and nodded in approval to see the space was enough.

"Altan, could you help me see if a human can fit inside this boot?" she looked at him as she asked. He was swaying, and would go down any moment.

"Ja..." he stumbled into the back of the car and went out almost immediately. His breathing was slowing, she had to leave pride Lands soon.

She shut the door and locked it, "there you go my indecisive kitty."

She walked into the driver's side and entered the car. Her eyes fell to her wrist watch as she shut the door and started the engine. "Less than a minute," she dropped the clutch and geared into reverse. Her hand flew to the radio and she fumbled for a song she needed to hear.

Her foot weighed down on the accelerator and she was gone, her thumbs heightened the music to and even louder volume when Altan's heart stopped beating.

The jostling of the car as it rode away from the land did not bother her as such. Altan Solaris was dead, and the one this that plagued her was the realization that she had robbed his pack of their truest Alpha.

'He walks away. The sun goes down...'

She joined the songstress for what was probably the 70th time. She parked and waited for a petrol attendant to approach her.

'he takes the day, but I'm grown... And in your way in this blue shade my tears-' the engine cut.

A woman in red and blue uniform approached and Nuria lowered the window. "Hola, what can I help you with?"

Nuria smiled, "two hundred unleaded." it felt weird not having the dead woman's voice in her ears filling her mind.

Nuria watched as her attendants tagged the machine and started pumping. She was humming to a familiar song that she recognized almost immediately. Her eyes nearly bugged out at the part she latched onto.

Mama, just killed a man.

Her eyes flew to the counter.

She dug into her purse and handed the woman her card, she ran off to make the transfer and returned with a pocket paw and let Nuria plug in her pin.

She bit her lip as her fingers pressed down on the keys. After her slip came out and she took it gingerly.

The window rolled back up, the music and engine back in she couldn't move any further.

The cry... she gripped the steering wheel as the sounded of what she left behind rang through her ears. The sound that pierced the night, that rung so loud it over powered the dead songstress ringing out in her car.

She shook her head just as tears threatened to fall, "it's not my fault." she said. "I asked him if he was sure, and he took the elixir anyway. I did him a favor..."

She was trying to believe that, she sat back and looked at the time.

04: 23 it read in white.

"Oh, Altan. What have we done? " the sound was louder replaying in her head over and over again.

Life had just begun an now I've gone and throw it all away.

Nuria Shudrel will be haunted by this sound for a really long time. She started driving again, on her lonesome in the dark on a empty road the sound rung even louder.

And the haunting began.

This was something she would always remember, always grow tense at.

The sound was the cry of a pride that had just lost its Alpha, the cry of grief and loss.

The kind of cry that made her predecessors go mad. The cry that would scar both she and the Set Solaris pride for long.

Tashudrel would be so disappointed...
