Unfamiliar Love

"Tell me what?" she asked, a little confused as to what was going on. Her dad looked back at her mom as she dried the last few tears out of her eyes and wiped her face. The crying had made her make up run and she now looked like a raccoon with all the black coating her eyes.

"Sophia," her dad started before continuing. His voice beginning to get a little flustered with emotion.

"Sophia, honey." he started again. "Your mom and I have decided to let you spend the summer in France with Renee." he finished, watching as the shock of what she had just been told plastered all over her face.

"OH MY GOD," Sophia screamed, as she let the words her dad had just told her ring through her ears. "What did you just say?" she asked again, wanting to make sure she heard her dad right.

"Yes Soph, you heard me right," he emphasized. "We are going to let you spend the summer in France with Renee......BUT," he paused. "There are some very strict rules you must agree to."

Sophia knew it was to good to be true. The smile was now gone and replaced with a blank emotion. "Yes dad, whatever you say," she answered him.

Her dad seen her disappointment and let out a chuckle before he spoke. "You have to promise to call us everyday and send us plenty of pictures," he told her watching the smile creep back onto her lips and her puffy cheeks fill back with excitement.

"I promise......I promise," she said jumping up and running to her parents. She wrapped them tightly in a hug to which they quickly matched. Stepping back, she kissed her mom and dad and ran up the stairs.

"I have to call Renee," she told them, as her voice disappeared up the stairs. Her mom and dad watched as she made her way up them and looked at each other.

"I hope we are doing the right thing," dad questioned, waiting on his wife to answer.

"She is a very good girl and I know we are," her mom answered.
