children crying for their first day of school was likely normal to see every year. some were just waving their hands to their parents as they bid goodbye. it felt warm watching their interaction.
“be good at school. show your teacher your amazing alphabet!”
I didn't know why but the father's statement made me smile, he was surely proud about his child.
“yes dad!” his child exclaimed, “I will not let you down!” she added. I turned around to look at them; they were hugging near to my classroom.
she was wearing a cute baby blue sweater with a black short skirt and her hair was tied in two pigtails. I couldn't see the father's face but she was certainly beautiful for a little girl.
“I will miss you,” her father said softly while kissing her forehead. my heart was fluttering watching them.
she giggled adorably while cupping her father's face with her cute palms. “we're going to see each other later, dad,” she said— she was smart and she spoke well.
her father cupped her cheeks as well. “still, I can't see you in a couple of hours. I'll miss my little star's smile,” he did a playful pout which made her laugh.
“I will miss you too, dad. but you should go now dad, you have to do A LOT of work!” she made a big gesture with her arms, referring to the word a lot.
she kissed her father's lips before they could break away. she waved a goodbye to him before she entered my classroom.
“GO DAD!” I heard her loud voice from the inside and her father chuckled. he waved for the last time and glanced to me.
he politely bowed his head when he realised that I was watching them. he smiled a little before he walked away.
that was far most my favourite father–daughter interaction. I smiled once more as I remembered the two of them.
I looked around and watched others again. some parents talked to me about their children and works. I told them to not worry as we promised to take good care of their children like our own.
when the class was about to start and the classroom was full, I finally entered the room to be greeted with adorable conversations.
“wah, your eyes are pretty!” the boy with curly hair said to a girl.
“is that bob the builder? whoa, where did you buy it?”
I looked at every each of them as they talked casually, except that little girl. the girl who was very loud with her father. she was sitting nicely and quietly alone at the very edge of the round table.
the girls beside her didn't even try talking to her, and neither did she wanted to smile to them. she lifted her head to look at me.
I smiled before clapping my hands to get all their attention. “okay class, today is your first day!” I raised my voice with a friendly tone. “I am your class teacher, you can call me Ms Kim, or teacher Kim.”
