(Ty 'sP.O.V)

I've known Layla since I was 6 years old. We've been through thick and thin together. She's been my only real friend. I mean I had loads of "friends" but that's because I live with the Alpha and Luna and is the best friend of their daughter.

Layla and I were both the most popular kids in school. Basically the whole school worships Layla, being the princess she could probably banish whoever she wanted from the pack. But she hated being treated like a princess. She is really down to earth and doesn't care what anybody thinks about her.

We've watched each other grow up. Layla has grown alot if you know what I mean. I couldn't help but notice.

To be honest, I've had a crush on Layla since 8th grade. I've been through a lot of relationships and Layla actually seemed happy for me. That frustrated me because I wanted to make her jealous. What really pissed me off is when she was in a relationship with Zack Red. He was a human boy. She literally forgot all about me. I didn't talk to her for a whole month, not really concidering the consequences. She broke up with him because of me. I know it was selfish but at least I got my best friend back.

Today was her birthday. Mine was only two days before hers. Today was the day she wanted to find her mate.

When a wolf girl turns 17 she would find her mate. It might not be the day of their birth, but near that time period. She probably wouldn't find her mate today but we weren't going to tell her that.

She was going to dress nice today so she forced me to do the same.

"Hey, you almost ready?" she yelled through the wall, seperating our rooms.

"Yeah, but you know there's a such thing of mind-link right?"

I could just imagine her rolling her eyes when I said that.

I tucked in my shirt then looked in the mirror. My hair was way to perfect. I shook my head around to mess up my perfect quiff. I walked out of my room to see Layla waiting between our two doors. Layla's parents moved my bedroom upstairs next to her's so we wouldn't cast a riot running up and down the stairs to go to each other's room.

She glared at me. I knew she wasn't happy about my hair. I smirked knowing I accomplished my task. She reached her hand up to correct the error I made but I swatted it away. I chuckled lowly.

"Stop being a baby and let me fix it." she pouted.

I loved when she did that.

I huffed, trying not to show my smile. I bent down as she ran her fingers through my hair. It felt so good. I felt like a puppy, wanting to roll over on my back and let her rub me. My wolf, Tyler, started going crazy. She finally finished.

"Now let's go eat." I said grabbing her by the wrist and pulling her down the stairs. We had to go down three flights of stairs.

It was kind of exhausting living in a mansion.

"Good morning Sue." Layla said to my mother while giving her a hug as we got into the kitchen. I honestly think Layla wants my mom to be her mother instead of her own. Don't get me wrong, Lola was great but she was never around due to the duties of a Luna.

"Good morning Layla and good morning Ty." she said as she put a couple of pancakes on a plate.

"Morning mom." I said sitting down at the island next to Layla.
