Chapter Six

Tobias

I woke up to a blinding light. My eyes fluttered, trying their best to adjust to the white light. I sat up and slowly stood up. It all came rushing back to me. Going into the store, the robbers coming and then trying to save everyone. I remembered getting shot in the process. I even remembered the searing pain I felt. I could hear Remington's scream of terror in the back of my head.

I shook my head, trying my best to clear my thoughts. I glanced around at the place surrounding me. All I saw was white. White everywhere. Have I died and gone to Heaven? I thought to myself. I started to walk ahead, having no idea where I was even headed.

I had been walking for at least ten minutes before I head behind me, "Tobias." My eyes widened. That voice. I would know it from anywhere. I must have really died because when I whirled my head around, I saw her. Tris. She was wearing the clothes that she had worn when she was killed, but she was free of any blood stains or bullet holes.

I couldn't say anything I was in so much shock. I ran to her and wrapped my arms around her tiny figure. "I missed you so much," I said, breathing in her familiar scent. After being embraced for what seemed like forever, I pulled away from her. We sated at each other's eyes for a while before I started to tear up. "I must be really dead, huh," I said.

"Yes, but you aren't going to say here. You are going back to the real world," she said. I could feel my eyes widened in shock.

"No, I need to be with you, Tris. I can't stand to be without you. I need you," I whispered. She couldn't just expect me to see her after three years and then just leave. I could never do that.

"Tobias, there a big plans for you. Bigger than you can imagine. That is why you are being brought back. I know you love me, and I know you miss me. Trust me, it hurts to have to see you leave, but there are things that will happen that I can't explain. You just have to trust me."

As I looked into her eyes, I could tell she was being genuine. There was no doubt about it. I was so speechless. I had no idea what to say. All that came out of my mouth were three simple, yet powerful words. "I love you."

Tris smiled at me and she hugged me tightly. "Tobias, it's okay," I heard her whisper.

      "What is okay?"

"I am okay with you moving on. I am okay with you dating Remington."

Once more, I was speechless. "Tris, I-"

"Tobias, I said it is okay. No arguing. I don't want you sad and alone for the rest of your life," she told me. "Listen, I have to get you back now. Tobias, I just want you to know that I will be with you every step of the way," she told me, and we kissed. She had wrapped her hands around my neck and I had both of my hands on her back, pulling her closer to me until there was no space left. We finally pulled away.

"I will miss you Tris," I said. Suddenly, white flooded my vision. I heard a high pitched noise and ever so slowly got louder. It hurt my ears. My eyes then opened back up, having to adjust to a new light for the second time. I groan in pain. Once my eyes were focused, I could see doctors rushing around me. I heard the faint beep of the heart monitor.

"We've got his heart restarted. He is awake doctor," he here a female voice say.

"Good, we can allow visitors now, but only family and close friends on the list," a husky voice said. I heard footsteps walk away from me, and the door close. I was all alone. I was resting when I  heard the door open. Gosh, please don't be another doctor.

"Tobias, are you awake?" I heard a faint voice say. I could tell that whoever was talking had been crying for a while. I opened my eyes and there was Remington standing before me. Hey eyes were puffy and red. I smiled at her and I tried to sit up, but pain exploded throughout my abdomen. I looked down and saw red. I should have remembered. I looked up at Remington and smiled.

"Hey Rem," I said, my voice very rough and husky.

Remington ran over to me and she hugged me, being careful not to hurt my anymore than I already was. "Tobias, I thought you were dead. I thought I had lost you," she said, beginning to cry in my arms.

"No way. It is going to take a lot more than one stupid bullet to take me away from you," I whispered. She smiled, and we just looked at each other, her hand in mine.
