"That's a great idea! Meryl, Jessica, are you in?" Kassandra looked at them in excitement as soon as she heard Brooklyn's idea. Brooke had suggested that the girls take some time off, or a vacation, to Italy.

Meryl started to get excited; Italy was one of her favorite places in the whole world. Then she remembered she had practice, and she couldn't just leave Charlie by himself with Skate America coming up. "I'd really love to, but I have to train for Skate America." She said regretfully.

"Oh, Meryl, but you love Italy so much! And this is a one in a lifetime opportunity!" Brooke tried to persuade her best friend.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity because all the girls were on break from school and for once in their lives, not busy. Except Meryl.

"What would Charlie say? I can't just leave him to practice alone." Meryl said, thinking about her best friend.

Jessica muttered, "Merlie."

Everyone giggled, while Meryl rolled her eyes in exasperation. "For the last time, we are just friends." But she knew those words would have no effect on them, because like the rest of America, they shipped Merlie.

"Well, call him! Tell him you're going to Italy with us, wether he likes it or not." Kassie laughed.

Meryl laughed and pulled out her phone, dialing Charlie.

Charlie was actually just hanging by himself in his house, and was not expecting Meryl's call. "Hey, Mer, what's up?"

Before Meryl could say anything, Brooke grabbed her phone and said, "Meryl is ditching you to go to Italy with us, whether you like it or not."

"Brooklyn! Sorry Charlie." Meryl laughed and snatched her phone back.

Charlie froze in shock. Meryl was going to travel halfway across the world without him? They have never traveled that far without one another, he thought to himself. "What? You're leaving me, with SA only like three months away?!"

"Relax, Charlie, I won't go if you don't want me too." Meryl said soothingly, knowing he was probably hyperventilating over at his place.

"Oh yes you-" Brooke started to say but was interrupted as Kassie slapped a hand over her mouth.

Meryl smiled at her gratefully and listened through the phone.

"No. You should go, have some fun. You really deserve it. And now that I think about it, my study group invited me to go to Europe for research. I turned it down because I didn't think you'd go on vacation, but now I guess that works out!" Charlie said supportively, remembering about the offer.

"Great, thanks Charlie! I'll tell you everything later, bye!" Meryl ended the call as the girls threw a mini party.

"Yes! Let's start planning!" Jessica clapped her hands together in delight as all the other girls squealed like little girls in excitement.

Meryl looked at her over excited friends and thought, how did I gain such supportive and crazy friends? But then she thought, where would I be without them?

Two weeks had passed, and Meryl and the girls have everything planned out, from hotel rooms, to guided tours.

Meanwhile, Charlie had gotten into the study group that was going to Europe again, and was thrilled that at least he could be on the same continent as Meryl.

Meryl finished packing and glanced at the time on her clock. It was almost 6 pm, and their flight was going to be overnight. She whipped out her iPhone, dialing Jessica's number.

"Hey, Jess, you done?" Meryl said as soon as Jessica picked up her phone.

"Of course! I'll come pick you up first and then we'll go get Kassie and Brooke." Jessica replied hastily as she dragged her three bags out to her car.

Meryl agreed and went back to her suitcases, triple checking everything. Her cell phone rang, and instinctually she grabbed it without looking at the caller ID. "Hello?"
