(Art is not mine🙂)
WOW I haven't updated in a long time!! Fear not, I have not forgotten you guys - just a little busy with school and stuff. But anyways I was looking through my notes today and found a rough draft of a scene that I was going to put somewhere in this story, but never got around to it.
It's not long, but it's sort of funny and cute. So here it is!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Context: (Y/N) has just recently escaped from England and made it to France, reuniting with Lafayette. My original plan for the book was to have them return to America right away, which obviously didn't end up happening. This scene would have occurred in a small inn Lafayette and (Y/N) stopped at during their travels.
"Laf? Something wrong?" (Y/N) picked up a delicate hairbrush on the counter and raked it through her hair.
"There-there's only one bed."
She spared a glance over at him - he was beet red. Laughing, she went back to brushing her hair. "Oh, come on. It's not that big of a deal. I mean, I've already fallen asleep on top of you so much in this story I don't see how this is any different."
He looked confused. "What?"
"Story? Y'know, it's a metaphor - like this part of our stories-oh, never mind." She laughed again at his face, which was utterly dumbfounded. "Let's just call it a night, okay? I'm tired."
"Oh, okay." His eyes panicked for a split second, but then he was fine and they were both climbing into the bed.
It was awkward. For one, she knew Laf was sort of embarrassed about the whole thing, so she didn't want to make him any more uncomfortable than he already was. On the other hand, the rain was still beating pretty hard on the roof, and they were both freezing.
She studied his face next to her. He was muttering to himself, eyes closed, almost as though he were arguing with someone invisible.
"Laf?" She asked quietly, just in case he was asleep or wanted to pretend like he was. "You okay?"
After a silent moment, his eyes flew open. "Oh, screw it." He turned to her, dark eyes wide with uncertainty. "(Y/N), can I - can I hug you?"
She blinked, surprised. "Laf, I'm you're girlfriend. You don't have to ask for a hug."
"Well, I mean, I wouldn't normally, but in our current situation -" he seemed to be getting more and more flustered as he spoke - "Not that I don't like our situation. Well, not that I - just while we're laying down here, I - I just didn't want you to feel uncomfortable, or like I was trying to -"
She leaned forward and silenced him with a kiss. Although it caught him off guard, he immediately obliged, lifting his hand to brush her hair away from her face.
When she pulled away, she snuggled up into his side, sighing in content. "You are the most incredible, amazing human being to grace the face of this planet. And to answer your question - yes, you can have a hug."
And he held her with a huge grin creeping onto his face, because, in all honesty, he still wasn't quite sure how he'd gotten so lucky.
So that's a section of the story I found but never published. Hope you guys enjoyed and aren't too mad at me for abandoning you for so long! I plan on writing some more fanfic sometime soon, whether this book or another :)
