The rain poured outside, and the coffee was warm. The best thing to do on a day like this, is listening to the thunder outside while drinking some coffee. He sat in his corner. It was a window seat with curtains on the edge of it. There were some small string lights hanging above his head. He watched the rain fall over the forest, and some dragons that were happily playing out in the puddles. They had a grey blue scheme to their iridescent scales. The nostrils at the end of their long snouts flared and steamed with joy. He watched them chase each other and stomp around int the puddles. He watched them as they flew up and glided between the trees, oblivious of his gaze. He knew that even if they knew he was there, they wouldn't care. They would keep playing in the rain and maybe even get close to the window, and he would have a great chance to photograph them for his dragon and nature album. He followed them for a while until they disappeared from view below his home. He looked down at the ground far below him, he searched but couldn't find them again. He slumped back into the pillow on the wall and looked out through the trees.
He took a sip of his coffee, closed his eyes a drew in a deep breath. He felt very much at peace. Rainy weather was his favourite weather after all. When it rained most of the amphibious type of dragons came out and about, they were his utmost favourite type around. He was also very fond of the aquatic types. He aimlessly gazed out the window, enjoying the rain, thunder, and the greyness of the skies above the leaves.
He stretched out onto his couch and slipped a blanket over his feet. He sipped some more of his coffee and ran his hand through his long hair. He took another sip of his coffee and placed in a carved shelf next to him. He started to braid a piece of his hair, he made an intricate braid with five pieces. When he finished he tied it with a piece of string he had lying around on his shelf.
After finishing his coffee he got up, and sauntered over to the sink and set his mug in it. He knew if he didn't wash it now, he would have to wash it after dinner. He sighed and half smiled, he rolled up his sleeves and poured a bit of soap into the mug. He opened the faucet and washed the mug.
It was relaxing, just the sound of thunder and the rain on the leaves outside. He picked up his mug to put it in the cabinet above the sink. There was a soft tap on the glass of the window. He froze. Maybe he was finally going crazy. There was another tap on the glass, this time a little louder. He looked over to the window and saw a silhouette on the curtain that separated his corner from the rest of the house. He set his mug down and walked over to the curtains. He pulled on aside and peaked through it. On the other side was an of the iridescent dragon, like the ones from before. It was about the size of a medium sized dog. It looked at him, and he looked at it. It tapped on the glass again with one of the hooks on it's wing, this time a little louder. He took a small step back, thoughts were racing through his mind, trying to decide whether or not to approach.
It blinked and made a clicking noise, he stepped closer. The dragon immediately wiggled and clicked again. He stepped closer and got onto his couch. The dragon, yet again, wiggled and clicked, then tapped on the window. He hesitantly reached for the lock on the window, the dragon clicked and wiggled again. He raised an eyebrow, and slowly unlocked it. He cautiously cracked the window open. The dragon clicked, wiggled, and tapped on the glass. He opened it a little more, the dragon clicked and stuck it's nose in the opening. He reached out and held his hand out to it, the dragon sniffed his hand, and touched it's nose to it. He let out a sigh of relief and stroked the dragons snout. The dragon let out a deep clicking sound and looked him straight in the eye.
Terror drenched him to the bone, he knew that look. He immediately pulled his arm out of the dragons reach and went for the window. The dragon let out a clicking growl and showed it's enormous teeth and canines. The dragon tried to grab his arm. He closed and locked the window. He knew he had fucked up. He backed away from the window. His heart thundered in his ears . The dragon growled and propelled itself off the window and into the forest. He sat there for a whole minute catching his breath.
He got up, "I should've known!" his cheeks flushed and tears stung is eyes. "I should've known!" He fell to his knees. That dragon that was at his window wasn't the same species as the two he saw earlier. It was a more hostile breed, and it knew how to trick it's prey into getting close to it.
