Chapter Fifteen: Pity
...

Last Chapter:

I looked down at the Avian at my feet, glaring defiantly up at me, and then back up to Jaida. She gave one slow nod, and eyes still on her, I pushed the end of my scepter down.

Now

Jaida

In the end, I only physically killed three of my sisters, though I may as well have killed the others. I even may as well have killed One. Sentiment was never good with the Red Room. I hadn't taught One well enough.

"Jaida? You're bleeding," Nat said, walking up to me.

I shook off my thoughts, and looked away from Loki. Forcing a weak smile on my face, I turned to my two colleagues. "I'm fine. I'll get it checked out later."

"No, you aren't 'fine'," Clint argued. "All of your sisters, the women you lived with for thirty years, are dead. You helped kill them."

"I said I'm fine, Clint," I said coldly, walking past them. Loki still stood over Two's dead body. His eyes hadn't moved from me yet, though his spear had disappeared. He opened his mouth, but I put a finger up.

"No," I said. "Don't ask. I am fine. I need to go find Director Fury, and since technically I am still your babysitter, you need to come with me."

Loki blinked, taking a moment to comprehend my quick words. "Oh. Alright. Ah, your leg-"

"I'll get it checked later," I said in exasperation.

"I should be able to heal that-"

I shook my head. "Save it. It seriously isn't that bad, barely stings-"

"That is potentially bad, Agent Liao," said a deep voice. I winced slightly.

"Director Fury. Good to see you're still running."

"Same to you," he said with a raised eyebrow. "I am assuming that you wish to see Petrovitch?"

"I was actually wondering if I could be put in charge of his interrogation."

"No."

"But, sir-"

"That is a no, Liao. Deal with it," Fury said harshly. I gave him a dirty glare that he easily returned. "I want you to take off for five days. Tomorrow, I want you to go see the psychologist, and right now, I want you to go get that stab wound checked."

I sighed in frustration. "Director, I assure you that I am fine. I, in no way, need a psychologist."

"I believe that in itself suggests otherwise," Loki said quietly. "You should listen to Director Fury. Trust me."

I glared at Loki, feeling slightly betrayed. Director Fury obviously agreed with Loki, though. "Exactly. Liao, I want you doing as I said. Laufeyson, see to it that she listens."

The Director was just beginning to walk away when I held up my hands. "Wait. No, no, no. What. You're trusting a criminal to make sure that I do my duty?"

"No. I'm seeing to it that an ally of S.H.I.E.L.D. helps out one of my most trusted agents in getting back into the full swing of things," Fury said. I crossed my arms.

"Fine. Let's let him have his way. Five days off. What can we do in that time?" I mused to myself. Loki sighed.

"Let us go get your leg fixed up, since you refuse to let me."

I rolled my eyes. "What about you, mister? No injuries? You were attacked by six angry birds."

"I healed them already," Loki said. He looked over to where Thor was talking to Coulson. "You never explained how that man is alive."
