Luke's P.O.V
"Some of you didn't do so well in your studies last term, so I suggest you all pull your socks up and focus! You must have more confidence in yourselves." Ugh. Our school principal was in the middle of delivering an inspirational speech during our morning school assembly, and boy, was he milking it. Why do teachers insist on making cheesy speeches that no one cares to listen to? Especially if your aim is to interest teenagers. Our principal was lecturing the entire student body about valuing schooling and how it then determines how well you do in the future. Pfft, like I needed to hear any more of this, it's a Friday morning for goodness sakes. Impatient sighs and mock coughing echoed throughout the otherwise silent hall. Shortly, my eyes drifted away from Mr Thomson, scanning past Jai and Beau then onto someone more interesting.
Bella, surrounded by her usual circle of friends and of course her two companions, Yanina and Holly, was watching intently as our principle spoke. How on earth could she be interested in this? Last time I checked, everyones attention was focused on either their nail beds or their hair. Eh, I guess that's the kind of girl Bella is, serious, much like myself. However, athletic and academic.
Mr. Thomson continued, "here at Penola Catholic College, we believe in fulfilling our duties as teachers, staff and students. It's up to you to make this school year memorable and it's your decision in how you choose to excel in your last few years of schooling. I urge everyone of you, to set goals for yourselves and accomplish them by the end of the year. Try something new. Let's start this term with a bang! Thank you," he concluded. He exited the platform with an unusually dramatic stride. Loud thuds erupted as his shoes banged against the hardwood floor, his footsteps and slight snickering of students were the only things audible in the large hall. I suppose he wanted an emotional reaction from the students, or maybe even a standing ovation, but all he got in response was a cluttered line of lifeless applause. Awkward.
The last part of his speech, though quite corny, stood out to me, "try something new. Let's start this term with a bang!" Second term of year eleven has just finished and third term is just starting. I wanted a kick-start to this term, and I'm not talking about schooling, my youth is way too precious to be spent on things other than fans, family and friends. I need something to look forward to. Yes, I've already accomplished so much in a matter of, what, one and a half years? Along with my brothers and close mates, we've become a Youtube sensation! From a group of mere hopeless kids in Melbourne, to becoming international! Next thing we know we're boarding planes all around Australia and meeting fans who were so eager to see us. You could say that life for the Janoskians is pretty amazing! There was no need for such lectures about schooling anymore, because my future is not far ahead. That's why I want to try something new, be bold, something I've never done... a relationship seems like a good start?
I'm sure you've all heard of it, the one where a boy and a girl hold hands, share intimate moments, getting all giddy at the sheer mention of the other persons name, late night texting, telling each other everything there is to know about themselves? Yep, that kind of relationship.
Hmm, it would be nice to have those things in life. Well, I wouldn't know. It's what I've gathered after closely observing Beau and his girlfriend get all snuggly and close. Heh, Beau in a relationship, who would've thought?
Why all of a sudden I'm thinking about relationships you ask? Frankly, I don't know the answer to that myself. It's always been something that I've heard about, but never really experienced it for myself, as a matter of fact, I haven't even contemplated being in an intimate relationship before. The closest thing I've ever had to a relationship, was probably with my camera or my dog Lala... Yeah, we're pretty intimate. If you would even consider that as a relationship, I certainly do. Not to mention, James already has a girlfriend, Sarah, and they're just so cute together! I've now been wondering if this is mating season? Everyone's suddenly confessing their love to each other, just like Jai admitted that he's got a mass crush on Ariana Grande (google her), it's quite cute actually. This only adds to the appeal of being in a relationship even more.
Geez, leave it to Mr. Thomson to have me questioning my priorities. I didn't think his speech would have such an impact on me, which clearly, it does.
I was deep in thought as I contemplated what could possibly be of my future, my near future. Eh, I've never really given much thought to such things before, all that would usually occupy my mind is Janoskians, fans, sports, music, training... Girls. You know, all the things us typical male adolescent would normally think about... Well, apart from the Janoskians, most boys think of us as faggots, heh screw them! They didn't mean a great deal to me. Shit, their own girlfriends want us more than them. (I mean that in the humblest of ways). Although, there was only one girl in particular who occupied my mind, Bella. It's not anything serious I don't think? She's an awesome friend! Though she would scrim at the mere sight of me, it was only after our tennis match together where she started looking at me as a human being.
As I was zoning out, I felt a slap at the top of my head, causing me to jerk back in surprise and snapping me out of my day dreaming. "Assemblies over dickhead!" I heard a boy say, I turned around and examined the voices origins and saw Jai standing in front of me, everyone was already heading out the glass doors of the hall and I haven't even moved an inch. "Oh shi-!" I exclaimed jumping up, now face to face with Jai. He was chuckling at my confusion so naturally, I punched him on the arm, only making him laugh louder. "Haha, calm down bro. You shouldn't be in a hurry to get to English class anyway," he said rubbing his arm. I rolled my eyes. English, the bitch of all subjects and now I had to endure two periods of it. Great. "Hey, just a reminder, we need a girl for our english skit next week," said Jai. Crap, completely forgot about our English skit. "Ah shi-, who are we going to choose?" I asked. Jai swept his fringe to the side before answering, "I don't know, what about that girl you hung out with, Bella, I think? Answered Jai. Oh my go- how could I forget that Bella was in my English class? "Not a bad idea, let's ask her!" I said eagerly. Jai's eyes lit up, surprised at how quickly I responded without arguing and nodded in agreement.
We made our way out of the hall aka auditorium and joined the rest of our class. I sighed to myself. Another long day of school.

School passed by smoothly and with some convincing, Bella agreed to play the female role for our english skit. Yeah, she was hesitant at first but eventually Jai and I got our way... as usual. Well, she didn't really have a choice, I mean, who else could she go with? Everyone else is already in a group.
After the two periods we had of English Bella agreed in coming over to Jai and I's place so we could start working on our english skit together. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to spend more time with her, I still wanted to know more about her. I only hope that her thick layer of bitch fades with time...
