Mia's Point of View

Two weeks, two weeks since Rotorua. I do miss it but I was enjoying travelling the North Island in the car we had rented. But now time has flown to our side, we are hitting the top of the South Island.

What we planned was to road trip around the North Island and then road trip around the top of the South Island, then hit home as school will be starting back up. I was a bit upset as the time is nearly up. But, we are making the most of the days.

We only have a week left and I wonder what the days will bring us. Maybe the unexpected? The unexpected that I have been craving.

We were now in Abel Tasman not to far from a small City I used to live in around two-thousand and twelve. I moved out of the City in two-thousand and four as my dad found a better job further down South. I moved a lot when I was younger. Caused me to gain anxiety. I'm not who I used to be. And I am me still but just a new version. I don't know if I like her though.

As we were driving up a hill to hit a ropes course, I started to become very excited. I love change, challenge, breaking out of the comfort zone and anything wild that one human would be afraid to do. Apparently you can climb up one hundred and five feet up into the air. I'm so ready.

Getting out of the car the smell of childhood hit my nose. This smell reminded me of Nelson. So many memories hitting my brain.

"I'm no good with heights!" An American voice hit my ears.

That voice. That voice sounded so familiar. I looked around as I tried to figure out where and how I had heard it. I couldn't put my finger on it.

"And you know it Elton," It repeated.

I furrowed my eyebrows and looked around even more soon seeing the backs to the owners walk towards the track. A laugh followed afterwards which happened to be the same laugh that was laughing on that swing not so many weeks ago.

It's the group of them boys. Who would of guessed we we would of bumped back into them. Life is a small world, isn't it?

Me and my girls walked towards the booth soon paying for our tickets and getting into some gear. Once we were all geared up, shown how to clip the clips onto the ropes, we all ran into the wild. The trees were stunning, reminded me of a fairy tale.

I can not believe I am on a hill. A hill I've been dreaming of since I could remember. The air tastes even sweater than I imagined. It reminds me of love, warmth, desire, and family. I love it. I adore it. I could die here. I am beyond happy.

We all soon hooked ourselves onto the line as squeals kept escaping my lips. I was so excited. As we started climbing up the trees I noticed the guys in the distance. I zip-lined to an number, stopping and looking back at Lia who was next.

"You can do it!" I encouraged.

"I don't think I can. This one seems more sketchy," Lia shook her head as she gripped onto the tree besides her.

We have only just begun and she thinks it's not safe.

"Believe in yourself," I said.

"Will you catch me?" She asked.

I nodded.

She took a deep breath in and soon placed the clips onto the line, soon counting herself down. She got to one and did it. She pushed herself and I felt so proud of her. I opened up my arms for her, her body soon colliding into mine. We both fell back into the green padding and squealed, soon laughter filling the air.

"You aren't clipped on!" She gasped as she got off of my body.

I shrugged and helped her unclip herself soon placing my clips onto the next obstacle. Afterwards Hannah and Ella joined us, my body now stepping over pieces of wood that were hanging by a string.

"We are getting so high now," I said as I looked down.

"Don't look down," Lia chewed onto her nails.

She was afraid of heights. But she said she liked when I encouraged her to break out of her comfort zone and face her fears. That makes me heart melt.

"It's okay Lia. I like looking down," I looked up at her and smiled.

"You are one crazy girl," She chuckled as I shrugged.

I soon made it to the other side and watched Lia's shaky feet being placed along the wood, my body encouraging her with everyone love in my bones.

"Elton!" I heard yell from a couple of feet away from us.

I looked to my left and saw the boys sitting down watching someone trying to push another off. They must be tired, but how? They went onto the course a good ten minutes before us and we are nearly caught up with them.

I kind of want to say hi, just to hear their accents, but that's too weird. I placed my focus back onto Lia and helped her unclip herself. As we kept on going higher up, the wood to climb up got really weird. It felt unsafe. It felt like I was going to die.

Great way to go.

I zip-lined to another area, throwing my arms up as I'm enjoying every moment given. I soon got off and unclipped myself soon placing my clips onto the next obstacle.

"You ready Lia?" I called out our bodies being miles away now as we are heading to the tip of the trees.

As I tried to grab onto the tree it swayed from side to side. I gulped and felt my eyes pop out of it sockets, my breath hitching.

I'm okay, just windy. It's all going to be alright.

"I'm coming!" Lia yelled.

I nodded and prepared myself knowing I will feel this one. I soon caught her and held onto her as tightly as I could as the tree started rocking hard. She didn't like the sensation but I made sure she felt comfortable and safe.

As it was tiny where we were we told the other two to wait. As I started to get ready for the other course I noticed it was another zip-line but it was longer than the one we were just on. I loved the zip-lining it was my favourite part.

But before I noticed one of my clips weren't on properly.

"Lia!" I yelled before I felt my body going forward.

"Mia!" She yelled out.

"I'm not on properly!" I screamed at the top of my lungs feeling my life flash before my eyes.
