Colby's Point of View

Driving to a town called Kaikoura Mia was sitting directly opposite me.

God I have never been this nervous before,

ever.

She pulled her headphones out and looked out of the window, her eyes soon lighting up as she laid upon the mountains that lay besides us. She kind of leant upon the window as her nose was so close to being squished upon it. She looked like a little kid going to a theme-park for the first time in her life. It was very charming.

"I have never been this close to a mountain," Her voice rasped out.

"Ever?" I asked.

And in that moment of time our feet accidentally collided underneath the table. She jolted, I jolted, but we soon smiled. You could tell she became very nervous but it was very obvious my smile soothed her.

"Yeah," She nodded,

"Always my dream to climb up one."

"Well, then let's make that dream come true," I said.

Her lips lightened up just as I felt the entire room did. She tucked her hair behind her ears as she slightly swallowed removing the dryness out of her throat.

"Really?" She asked.

I nodded as she fell back into her seat and blushed ever so slightly. Elton still hasn't told us what we were doing today like every other day. But I'm glad that Mia can join in on the mystery.

"Will you guys listen to a kiwi band for me?" Mia asked as her eyes only went to mine.

"Lay it on us," Corey yelled from up top; where I normally sleep.

She nodded and plugged her phone into our speaker which didn't cost us that much surprisingly. I thought prices out here in New Zealand would be ridiculous.

"They are called Six-60, and happen to be one of my favourite bands," She said as she searched through her playlist.

"Who would you say is your favourite band?" I asked.

Her head immediately popped up like she was excited to answer the question I proposed.

"Pink Floyd," Her smile grew wide.

"Nice choice," I nodded as that was an answer I wasn't expecting.

She winked- hold up she just winked. My heart stopped for a second, she just winked at me.

Me.

Colby,

Colby Brock.

I released my breath I was holding in soon music filling my ears.

"This one is called Only to Be, one of my favourites," She said just as the guitar filled our ears.

I nodded along to the beat while Corey moving in his seat to the rhythm. The intro to the song was very chill, soothing, relaxing. It almost made me feel happiness that I have been lacking, and missing.
