Jungkook knelt beside the grave, tears still streaking his cheeks. He shakily laid the flowers in front of the tombstone and sniffled.
“I’m sorry for the way I treated you before this. I’m sorry for always calling you short and patting your head. I’m sorry for always teasing you. I’m sorry for everything,” he whimpered.
He sat there a while longer, crying, sobbing, letting the memories replay over and over in his head, beating him, choking him, for everything he had done to the sweet boy that was laying in the ground without a pulse.
When he finished his stay, feeling that it was time to go, a voice stopped him.
“Jungkook?”
“Jungkook turned around to come face to face with Jimin’s mother. Her eyes were red and puffy and her nose looked raw from the use of countless tissues. Jungkook bowed.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered.
She shook her head.
“No. I’m glad I ran into you here,” she said.
She walked over to the grave where Jungkook still stood and knelt down, placing the flowers she held beside the ones that Jungkook had brought. She stood back up and sniffled, wiping her eyes.
“I… I was going to lay them here… but I think they would be better off… with you,” she said, stuttering through her soft cried.
She reached into the small bag that she carried and pulled out clear plastic back, holding it up for Jungkook to see. Inside where two rings. Jungkook’s breath caught in his throat as he immediately recognized them.
“These were his rings… I want you to have them,” she said quietly. Jungkook nodded, more tears spilling down his already read cheeks. She reached into the bag and pulled the rings out, carefully placing them in Jungkook’s hand.
“He loved you with all his heart Junkook,” she said.
Jungkook’s fingers curled around the rings, holding them, protecting them the way he wished he’d protected Jimin.
“And I’ll never stop loving him,” he whispered.
