"Why aren't they attacking?" Dean questioned in confusion, lowering his gun as he squinted at the sluggish demon.

"Ah, right. You're used to attacks, aren't you?" Cindy chuckled. "These demons; they're so low on the chain that their only purpose is to follow instructions. They're practically mindless. They're here to protect the building no doubt, but not from us." Cindy walked right past the demon, even giving it a little nudge that it simply growled under its breath at and continued to stand in his spot.

"Mindless demons? Didn't know those kind existed." Dean said in disbelief, following her.

"I've been a mainly demon oriented hunter for six years. The king of hell -Crowley, right?- usually places offence demons around him so no one can bother him but other demons. Mindless demons though, they're so stripped of free will that even scavenger demons can control them."

"Did you read about this, or-"

"I learnt from experience, named their ranks myself really. I'm sure other hunters have mentioned it?"

"Not really, hunters aren't usually specific in what they kill." He shrugged, shoulders tense. He wasn't used to walking by targets without them jumping on him or threatening his life.

"I've always been a demon girl." Cindy didn't feel like spewing her sob story right then. She had more important things to do. She had to find Jared and Richard.

"Fair enough." Dean murmured, hand still tight around his gun in habit. "Do you have any clue to why the demons wouldn't be offence?"

"They're waiting." Cindy realized. "Waiting for something...or someone. They aren't stopping us, because maybe they want us to find Jared and Richard. It might cause a chain reaction." Cindy furrowed her brows. "But who or what they're trying to get? I have no idea." She hated not knowing.

"Should we head back?"

"No. I told Bobby I'd get them back, and I will...Even if it's just their bodies." Cindy said solemnly, noticing the cage-like barrier across the hallway, jogging over to it to look inside.

"Everything will be alright, Jared...A gracious heaven awaits you." A soft, deep voice spoke with reverence and kindness, making Cindy paused.

She peered through the bars, a mop of curly blonde hair and a blue sweater that stretched across a broad back was in view. Jared had black hair and a southern accent though, so it definitely wasn't him.

A soft blue light came from the mans hands, pressed against Jared's chest before Cindy panicked.

"Jared!" She didn't know him well, but they hunted together once and he didn't tease about her fear of stairs. He carried her up them when she was needed for the hunt once. She couldn't let whoever it was suddenly send him to heaven!
