Hayley had first heard of Rippers in her history class. Flesh Rippers where an outcome of a bio-terrorist attack in the early 70s near Glasgow, Scotland. The government had reassured the world that the problem had subsided and they were 'extinct'. However many rumours had stated that Rippers had come back and that the chemical agent Nosodiaphine was being used in gang crime.

The monster continued to rip through her chest. The pain was unbearable and she could feel herself slowly draining away, each slash making the room around her darker and darker. Her insides where failing and her and she began to think that maybe she deserved this. Maybe this was God's way of telling her that she was always a bad person, although she didn't believe in any kind of religion.

As the cafeteria finally faded to black, she heard voices from across the hall. Oddly familiar. Then it struck her, the voices were the calls of her friends.

"Get away from her!" A female voice screamed. Hayley was straining to recognize the voice but she was too weak to really try. The room began to get lighter as she regained consciousness.

CLANK!

The sound of a metal pipe echoed around her making her ears ring. She could just barely hear the sound of a male voice panting in front of her. Hayley had never heard this voice before and she wanted to scream. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head, and the room went dark once more.

When she awoke, she was lying on the hard wooden floor of a room she had never seen before. The walls were a bright green and books lined almost every corner of the room. A girl was sitting in the swivel chair on the other side of the room desperately fumbling with items on the desk in front of her. She could see her lips moving but no sound came out, in fact, she couldn't hear anything. She started to panic. Books fell from their shelves had she screamed and the girl at the other end of the room doubled over in pain covering her ears. Hayley stopped screaming as a tall boy, who looked around 15, with flippy black hair wearing a blink-182 t-shirt slowly strode over. Her heart skipped a beat, this was the boy who she heard before she blacked out. When the boy reached her he picked her up and carried her behind the desk and placed her on a pure white couch she hadn't seen at first glance.

"My name is Drake" he said, cupping his hands around her face. She was pleased that she could hear again as she was certain that she had gone deaf. She smiled. She felt as if her heart was melting as she looked into is deep green eyes. She felt as if she had known him for years, like an old childhood friend. All of the happenings up until this moment just seemed to disappear, until she snapped back into reality as he let go of her face.

"W-w-what happened?" Hayley stammered. "What's going on here?"

Drake started to answer Hayley but was interrupted by the girl at the desk.

"Bio-terrorist attack Hayley. Were trapped in here." said a voice to her right. The voice belonged to none other than her best friend Serena Boyle. "and you're infected."

Hayley was very confused. She wanted to ask Serena what she meant but decided against it because she was known to give sarcastic answers to stupid questions, even if the question was perfectly normal to everyone else.

"Look." whispered Drake. He was looking out a window discretely and pointing in the direction of the school car park. "They're everywhere. What are we going to do Serena?" The concern in his voice was growing with every word. Serena and Hayley quietly walked over to the window, momentarily glancing at each other with fear in their eyes. When they reached the window their jaws dropped. Drake was right, they were everywhere. Some where climbing on cars that had their windscreens smashed and drenched in blood, others where dragging bodies of students and teachers along the concrete. Hayley looked down at herself, she was completely soaked in her own blood and her Green Day t-shirt was torn to smithereens. However there was no scratches or deep wounds on her chest, bewildered she turned to Drake.

"How come I'm not wounded? Like, that thing, I could feel it tearing through my flesh. How am I infected if I'm not wounded?"

Both Drake and Serena spun round with looks of deep regret smacked on their faces.

Drake took Hayley's hand and squeezed it tightly.

"Because" he said with a sorrowful tone. "I can do this thing... I can heal people with my mind."

Hayley took a double take. She was unsure of what to make of this. Surely he was just playing a trick on her? I mean it is the year 2024, maybe he used one of the instant heal packs.

"And your the one who brought us back master." bellowed a deep, demon like voice behind him.

Hayley's beloved best friend Serena was lying on the floor in a pool of blood, and a ripper was standing over her, with her heart in its mouth.
