When Cameira awoke, no one was in the room with her. She stood up and went towards the door. It was open just a bit. She pushed it all the way open and saw 3 people outside in chairs.
When she saw this she stumbled for a moment, backing into the room. Her mind faltered as she was hit with a memory.
Cameira had been in chairs like that. Awkward floral prints and stark white walls that met tiled floors with unfittingly happy colorful dots. She wanted to rip up the tiles. They had no right to be happy in a place like this.
Her leg bounced on repeat. Her fingers gripped whatever they held.
“Cameira?”
She jumped up, dropping the magazine that was in her hands. Her eyes were wild and her hands shook. She met the grassy green eyes that she knew and sat down again. It wasn't what she wanted.
“Kallens on his way.”
Cameira stood again, approaching dangerously close to her friend, “I'm glad he’ll see what he's done.”
She sat down yet again. She didn't bother to pick up the fallen magazine. Her hands pulled at the rough exterior of her pants. Her foot tapped against the tile floor. The sun cheerily shone through and happily caught the dust particles in the air.
Cameira wanted to destroy the sun in that moment. Let the world freeze as she came close to losing one of her favorite people in the world.
A woman in a white coat came from somewhere. Where? Cameira didn't know. She was staring at the dust being reflected by the sun.
“Cameira Vipes? I have news.”
Cameira had slid down the wall. She smoothed her hands across the floor as the memory left her. Even after going through the memory, tears refused to streak her face.
That was a different time. A different life. It felt so long ago, but it was only a few years ago. It felt like it happened centuries ago.
In a way, she was glad it happened before the bombs hit. Coriana wouldn't have survived in a world like this. Cameira wanted the world to freeze but it burned later. It burned, seemingly to spite her.
She collected herself and exited the room again.
“What exactly happened last night?”
“Kai tried to read your thoughts and your mind went berserk,” Sno said calmly, leaning against yet another wall, “He called to me for help so I acquired Sabrina and had her help you. You're getting trained next month whether you like it or not.”
Cameira let out a small huff.
“We need to discuss the plan,” he began, pushing off the wall and beginning to pace, “Mila wants you to go out, get Xander and come back. Thing is, she doesn't trust you three to go out on your own. So I have to chaperone you.”
“When are we leaving?” Sabrina spoke calmly.
“2 weeks from now. We'll be gone for a week at the least,” Sno didn't look at her. He didn't look at anyone. He stared at the ceiling and paced.
No one spoke for a moment. Then someone entered and interupted the calm silence.
“Sno, Darren wants you to calculate Kai's results,” the brunette looked at Kai and let off a flirty smile, “Also, Kale wants to see the girls. I'll keep Kai company in the lobby.”
