"What's going on?" Matt asked the rest of the group as they proceeded walking into the small town. It seemed as if some kind of festive was going on.
"I'm not sure either," answered younger brother Bear, "let's ask them."
Before anyone could respond he ran off and greeted one of the villagers. The others caught up and could hear the man's response. "It's the yearly official fight."
"Yearly official fight..?" Gabe, the most muscled one of the boys asked.
The man laughed in response, "Well, its not very official, but we do it every year. The rules are as following; In order to participate you need to bring a prize. Either money or something really useful, as winter is coming. When you're participating you can't turn back, but if you do have to for some reason, you will lose your money and don't get a chance to win again this year. Once you have participated and get chosen for the fight you will need to battle another participant. There are only a few exclusives like children and elder, but as those aren't in your age range I won't explain them."
"Okay," Bam Bam, the second oldest, said, "and if indeed we wish to participate, where do we sign up?"
"Once night falls the fight begins. When sundown begins you get to participate. It's at the old junkyard. And for those who can't allow themselves to be out that late, during this time everyone sleeps over at everyone's. Ah well, I have to go. Good luck kiddos!" the man said before walking off.
"Thanks!" said Matt.
"Sooo, what do we intend to do?" Bear said, overly enthusiastic as if he had already decided he wished to join.
"I'm not sure," Gabe mumbled, "if one of us gets hurt we might have big trouble during winter."
"He's right," said Bam Bam, "but nonetheless we could check it out and decide once we're there."
"Dad might get worried because we won't go home tonight..." said Matt, scratching the back of his head.
"Yea, but we could also win," Bear hopped from one leg to another, "I mean, we're probably one of the healthiest and youngest people around. Winning shouldn't be a big deal. I think I could win, let alone if our big guy Gabe joined in."
"Yea, I'm quite strong," Gabe said in response, "but I dislike hurting people."
Bam Bam nodded and looked at Gabe. Of all his dad's children Gabe might be the most gentle-natured one. He took Bear's words in as well. Most of the townspeople were old or couldn't put up much of a fight. To be honest, he hadn't even seen one of the young men of town at all. Or maybe he didn't look at them because of the beautiful ladies...
Bam Bam sighed, "Okay, let's go there and see what it's about."
