Charley's POV
Rain started to pour down onto the pavement as the clouds opened up. I sighed and looked across the street to see Chirpy walking quickly towards her university. I silently followed her, wondering why she was being so quick about getting there. It wasn't like the university was going to somehow get up and walk away.
When she arrived at the university, she walked down a few steps to get to her laboratory office. I walked past her office and toured the rest of the lab. She had many microscopes and scanner equipment as well as some test tubes in one corner filled with a yellow liquid.
I walked towards the yellow liquid and read the name on the test tube. It read: SUPERNOVA. I frowned, not quite understanding what I was looking at. I set the liquid down and sped up towards the entrance of the university.
Aliana walked by the university, on her way to S.T.A.R. Labs, I assumed. Chirpy came out of her lab office and looked over at me.
"You are back." she stated with no emotion in her voice
"Yea. I'm back, Chirps." I said
She looked past me and called Aliana. Aliana turned towards us and smiled as she walked close.
"Hey Chirpy!" she smiled
"Hey, I wanted to offer you a job here at the university. I know you're busy with S.T.A.R. Labs and C.C.P.D, so I was going to offer a part time job, if you wanted it. I know you have a lot on your plate already." Chirpy said
"Really? Of course! I need the money." Aliana replied honestly
Chirpy smiled, "Great, just send me your conflicts, and I can set up a schedule for your work hours."
"Okay. I'll catch you, later, Charley." Aliana said and started walking towards S.T.A.R. Labs.
Chirpy gave me another one of her emotionless looks before walking back into the university doors.
I knew that Chirpy didn't like me from the start, but she never showed her hatred for me until now. My mind kept going back to the test tube bottle that read supernova. I wasn't sure what it was for, but I had a feeling it was not anything good. I was determined to investigate what she was doing in that lab of hers and if anyone could get answers from her, It would be Aliana, since she was now working at the university lab.
I sped away from the university and towards S.T.A.R. Labs. Aliana was already inside when I arrived. She had taken off her jacket and set it on one of the chairs. She was currently writing something on a white board.
"Whatcha doing?" I asked her
She turned fragmented, "Oh, just writing some things about the case i'm working on."
"I know it's a murder case, but what are the details?" I asked
She sighed, looking a little puzzled as if wrestling with the information in her mind, "Well, people have been found electrocuted and drained of bodily fluids around the city. I'm trying to figure out why someone would be so cruel, why they need the fluids, and why they always choose electrocution. So far, I have a few ideas, but they all lead to a dead end."
"Well, why don't you try checking out Chirpy's lab to find something that could help you figure out why they are electrocuting people." I suggested
"Why Chirpy's lab?" she inquired
"Well, her lab has more equipment than S.T.A.R. Labs does at the moment and I figured she'd let you use it. Plus, I was looking in her lab earlier and found a test tube labeled supernova. Do you have any idea what that could be?" I asked her
She looked at me with a frown, "Supernova, huh? Well, supernova is an explosion of a star. So whatever this test tube is, it must be very explosive. I don't understand why Chirpy would have something named Supernova in her lab, though."
"Will you look into it for me?" I asked
She nodded, "Sure"
I smiled, "Thanks, Ali."
I sped out of the lab and headed towards the C.C.P.D. Lab and phased through the window. Ender was already there collecting data for something on the shelves. I could tell he wasn't going to be leaving anytime soon. I smiled at the thought, knowing Aliana would have him when I was gone.
