i haven't seen my ex since we broke up
probably 'cause he didn't wanna grow up

~

today i found hyonu
my boyfriend of two years
cheating on me
with some ninth grader
in his car.

i stood there in shock,
hoping it was a dream,
as they scrambled
to put back on their clothes.

about a minute passed.
i still haven't moved a muscle.

reality had hit just then
as i noticed the petite little girl,
clothes wrinkled and hair a mess,
sat there in fear.

'bitch, get the fuck out.'
i growled at her.
sending her to jump out the passengers
as i took her place.

i scoffed and chuckled
as hyonu apologized.
this wasn't the first time,
or second,
or third.

in the middle of his explanation
i got out the car
and walked away,
as he asked,
where i was heading.

'i'm done with you hyonu,
for real this time.'
i said as i pick up a stone
about the size of a tennis ball
and throw it at his window,
chuckling as i watched it shatter.

my feet lead me
to a convenience store
where i convinced
a middle aged man
to buy me some liquor.

i sat at a bench
in front of the highway,
ready to throw myself into the traffic.
i stayed there for a while
watching the sunset,
taking gulps of soju.

i checked my phone.
8:43 p.m.

yeah, i was toast.
appa's gonna kill me.

but i didn't care.

that was the day i decided
that i wouldn't care
about anything anymore.

no more good girl.
no more class president.
no more top five of the class.

no more trying to be perfect.

'lee soori!'
my dad yelled
as is nailed into the car,
'you don't know
how much trouble your in.'
i didn't reply.

driving home,
i got a whole lecture.
the lecture continued
as we entered the house.

"where is the good soori
i once knew and loved?
the one that
gives me good report cards,
comes home on time,
and makes me a proud father?!"

she's gone, appa.
i'm pretty sure you
would love the new soori.
i wanted to say.
