"So you're getting older?"

"Yup."

"Well, then,"

She left her lips with no words for about a minute.

"Why? Don't you say 'happy birthday' or whatever?"

She smiled.

"Oh, darling. Thou remain the same,"

She laughed. I knew she was trying to troll me.

"Listen, we're getting older everyday. There's nothing special about it. And, getting older means you're getting deeper into this rabbit's fur."

"I don't understand."

She turned her head. We were facing each other, looking deep, down to one another's eyes.

"Jostein Gaarder taught me about this. Okay, now, let's pretend this world is a rabbit. An extremely huge rabbit pulled out of a top hat. The process took many billions of years. Of course, because it's huge. And eventually, all mortals were born at the very tip of the rabbit's fine fur. But as they grow older they work themselves deeper to the fur. And that's us."

"We're getting deep down..."

"And inside the fur-forest-thingy, there they stay. They become so comfortable so they never risk crawling back up fragile hairs again."

I listened carefully.

"It's your choice whether you want to risk crawling back to the tip of the fine hair again and tell people what is going on outer space, see what others don't see, and grow curiosity or just stay in your comfort zone and just do what every normal human being does."

"Getting older seems so hard.  I have a lot of jobs to do."

"Getting older is so easy. Everyone is getting older. But the hardest part is getting wiser and getting older at the same time. It's okay if you still don't get it."

"Thanks."

I murmured.
