I groaned and covered my head with my pillow, about to throw my phone across the room to stop the stupid school alarm from going off.
Jewel was already up and probably dressed, I could tell by the way she banged on the wall that connected our rooms.
" Get up! " She called.
" Go away! " I retorted, my tone only half joking.
I sighed as I sat up and yawned. Only 6:30, our homeroom didn't start until 8:15 and Tony-our backup driver since James was back at college wasn't picking us up until 7:30, but since I still had to shower, do my hair, makeup, get dressed and go give Onyx food and water, I was half thankful that Jewel got me up.
I took a quick 10 minute shower and got dressed while I waited for my hair to dry. My first day of school outfit had been planned she we went shopping last week before the Finale. A white off the shoulder tee with a skull surrounded by flowers, black ripped skinny jeans, a leather jacket and my short heeled biker boots were waiting by the front door. After I got dressed, I blowdried and curled my hair. A few days ago I had gotten my hair dyed, now it was ash blonde/honey coloured instead of brown with lack and white blonde highlights. My parents had freaked out at first, considering I hadn't told them when I left to go get it done, but by now they seemed to have gotten used to it. As I walked over to my desk to grab my black messenger bag that was draped over the chair, my eyes landed on the screen of my macbook.
' Update Installed '
" Oh ya... " I talked to myself. I had tried to look up Felix Marston last night, but my computer had to preform an update. It had taken forever just to download and I had given up waiting after about half an hour. I quickly shut the laptop lid and shoved it into my bag, going over what I had in there for school.
Essentials: Headphones, phone charger, phone, laptop, latest issue of Canadian Eventing Monthly
And, you know, the other stuff: Textbooks, notebooks, pencils, pens, sticky notes, etc.
I slung my bag over my shoulder and checked the time on my phone
7:10
I opened my door and suddenly smacked skulls with Jewel.
" Seriously? Do you always have to be right there when I walk out? " I said as I rubbed my now aching forehead. Like me, Jewel had picked her back to school outfit when we had gone shopping for the Finale, and she looked dressed to impress. A white skirt with tiny black dots and blue and black flowers by the bottom, black tight fit long sleeve shirt and black tights.
" Do you always have to walk out when I'm standing right there? " She replied.
I chuckled. " It's my room remember, now come on, we're going to be late! "
I ran past her, racing down the stairs with her following behind me.
" Since when do you care if we're late for school? " She asked as we ran into the kitchen, where mom had already set up two bowls of our favourite cereals, mine being Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Jewel's was Lucky Charms. Dad was reading the newspaper at the island as Jewel and I sat down on either side of him.
" I don't, I just want to have time to see Onyx before we go " I replied.
She rolled her eyes. " Of course "
I stuck my tongue out at her.
" The Finale got great reviews this year, a lot in here about you two and the team " He told us, stopping the would-be argument as he laid the paper down so Jewel and I could look at the page the newspaper company dedicated to the Finale. We both gulped down our cereals while we read.
