When I usually walk to school, I tend to think about the noises I would hear if I wasn't deaf. Even though I have a hearing aid, I can't hear all the stuff in the world . Like birds chirping or those beetles that come around in the summer . I miss out on most sounds and activities which makes me sad but hopefully it's different here, at the new school .

My excitement reduced slowly and that excitement turned to fear as I watched the school doors fill with kids. I walked in and ignored the "WARNING" sign, then I fell. Luckily no kids were looking, they were so busy trying to find their friends. I was unbothered until...

"Hiii Welcome To RiverDale High! You're Chloe...right?"

"Umm...yeah . How do you kno-"

"That doesn't matter . Come on, I'll show you around ."

" Okay..wait what's your name?"

"Oh! I'm sorry, I'm Alexis . Now come on ."

Alexis was odd . She was only showing me around, the other new students..they went with the other grown man .

"Wait why am I with you ? And Not him " I said as I pointed over to the group of juniors girls and boys with the man.

"Oh well umm...you see . You are...hmm...how do I say this ?" She mumbled. "You are...different"

"What do you mean?" I say as I squinted my eyes at her.

"You have a disorder, they don't"

"Don't treat me different . I'm normal like anyone else here ."

I hate when people try to treat me differently just because of my disorder, it sucks . Like you don't know me, at all . So don't assume stuff .

Alexis came closer to me, "I didn't want to do this because I don't judge people with disorders . The office told me to separate you"

I sighed and looked at the group that has now disappeared into room 56 . I felt the lump in throat, ready to activate my tears .

" It's fine . Just show me around, please ."

"I'm sorry . We don't have to do this, I can leave if you want." She says as she looks at me.

"No please" I rubbed my eyes and nose "You are just doing your job".

"Okay . Let's go ."
