Silvershy's POV:

"I-I can't see! I can't see!" Duskkit wept, clawing at the air feebly. Silvershy crouched over her kit, her eyes welling up with tears as she helplessly tried to calm him down. Has Tofu blinded him? What kind of monster would do that to a kit?

"Move away, Silvershy." Wind's soft order reached her ears and the silver she cat looked up at the healer.

"Please heal him." She begged, stepping back to give him space to work.

Setting down a bundle of foreign herbs and other plants, Wind got to work on Duskkit. The little black tom's wails had reduced to small whimpers. It seemed he had completely exhausted himself. Hopefully Wind could ease his pain. Silvershy winced just thinking about the agony her son was in.

She barely noticed Pearlkit and Citruskit approach. The two she kits latched onto their mother, snuggling into her fur to find comfort. Silvershy carefully wrapped her tail around them, but didn't move her gaze from Duskkit.

Duskkit suddenly siezed up, parting his jaws in a loud screech as Wind pressed some wet, moss-like substance to his face. Silvershy resisted the urge to stop Wind. He was helping her son. He would fix him.

The wails and cries continued as Wind cleared away the blood from Duskkit's face. Finally, they were able to get a clear look at his injuries. Three deep gashes lined his face, running from just above his eyes to his muzzle. Both of his eyes were red and bloody, and they appeared unresponsive. They just sat there, twitching every few heartbeats. There was no sign of the beautiful blue orbs he had gotten from his father. Silvershy could distinctly see that the slices had made it to his eyes, cutting right through them. How were they going to fix that?! "I'm going to kill Tofu!" The silver she cat seethed. "I'm going to make him pay for what he's done to my son!"

Pearlkit and Citruskit wailed at their mother's vengeful outburst, holding on tighter to her silver pelt. Silvershy forced herself to calm down for her kits. They had been through enough already, it wasn't fair to make them frightened all over again.

"Why don't you take Pearlkit and Citruskit to your nest. I'm sure they need to rest." Wind murmured, glancing up at the silver she cat. "I'll heal Duskkit."

Silvershy sighed in understanding. She knew that her kits needed rest, and her being there yelling about revenge helped no one. "Come and get me if anything happens." She meowed intensely, staring at Wind.

The healer nodded his head as he turned back to his various herb bundles. "I will do everything in my power to heal Duskkit, and I will get you if anything at all happens."

Silvershy took a deep breath and picked her kits up, carrying them to their nest. Her pawsteps were uneven and her body still trembled from the stressful morning. It wasn't even sunhigh yet, and so much had already happened. Worry for Duskkit racked her brain. Would he be okay? Would he get his sight back? Was he going to be blind forever? How would he ever fly then, with no sight? Silvershy nearly started crying as she imagined the struggle Duskkit would have to go through if he couldn't see.

Attempting to dismiss the horrible thoughts from her mind, Silvershy settled into her nest. She curled into a ball, letting Citruskit and Pearlkit snuggle into her belly fur.

The three fell asleep within heartbeats, their uneasy breathing soon turning calm and rhythmic.
