Epilogue

Shadeheart's POV:

"Are you ready, Shadeheart?" Spark's soft voice tickled his ear fur. "It's going to be tough."

"I'm ready." Shadeheart nodded reassuringly to the ginger she cat while he lay in a nest in the main clearing. "Get these shadows out of me."

The dark furred tom could feel NoName's shadows burning a hole inside of him. When she had died, her powers had no where else to go, and so they had fused with him. It had been so quick and painless that he hadn't even noticed until after Spectrumstar's nine lives ceremony, which had taken place the night after the Dark Forest battle. Now, he could definitely feel the growing chasm of death seeping throughout his body, running through his veins and plaguing his mind. His whole body itched to get rid of them, he would die before he became the monster his foster mother was.

So, Spark had come to the rescue. The light ginger she cat knew how to change the shadows into the moon mist she had. Lucky for them, it was the full moon, which would allow Spark to trigger the change.

Around Shadeheart sat his family. Flowerstream, Bluesnow, Mountainkit, Robinkit, Pondkit, Shadowkit and Flintkit. Shinewing and Wrenflight stood guard, with bundles of herbs ready in case anything when wrong. Shadeheart's golden gaze hovered over the two medicine cats and paused for a heartbeat. He swore he could see a shimmering figure of a kit sitting tall next to Wrenflight. Cinderkit. It had to be her! It had to be! Shadeheart looked away, worried he was imagining it, but the glowing form remained even when he glanced back at it. Cinderkit was with her family, watching over them. Shadeheart's heart burned, and he wasn't sure if it was NoName's shadows or grief. Maybe both.

"Let's begin." Spark mewed, resting her paws gently on Shadeheart's chest and head. "You might feel a slight twinge..."

Silvershy's POV:

Silvershy stood next to Spectrumstar. The two she cats watched Shadeheart's transformation closely from the leader's den. She hoped Shadeheart would be okay. He deserved it after all of this.

"This is nice." Spectrumstar murmured, tucking her forepaws underneath her chest. "I never imagined I'd be a Clan leader."

"It suits you." Silvershy purred, glancing at the black she cat before grinning. "And I think being deputy suits me too!"

"I couldn't think of a better cat to help guide me." The Promethean smiled slightly, her pale green eyes peeking at the silver she cat.

A scream of pain from Shadeheart made Silvershy jolt. Spectrumstar wasn't fazed by the sound, but she did turn her attention back to the black furred tom.

"He'll be a good medicine cat if this works." Spectrumstar meowed quietly. "I've seen Moon Mist in action, it's amazing."

"Do you think he wants to be a medicine cat?" Silvershy mumbled.

"He has to be." Was all the black she cat replied with. "It's his duty."

"Right." Silvershy nodded slowly.

There was a short pause between the two she cats before Spectrumstar spoke again. "I had my doubts about you, Silvershy."

"Doubts?" She looked up. "Why?"

"When we first met, when I saved you from the Dark Forest." Spectrumstar sighed. "I never expected you to become such a good friend of mine."

"Miracles do happen."

"You think this was a miracle?" The black she cat chuckled.

"Of course." Silvershy giggled.

Spectrumstar nodded to herself. "Thank you Silvershy."

"No," Silvershy shook her head and looked at the black she cat. "Thank you. Without your help NoName would still be ruling. You freed us. You are the reason we are still alive today."

"So LightClan will survive for a while longer then."

Silvershy corrected, "Forever. LightClan is forever."
