Savannah
I watch helplessly, as Preston packs up his things. I want to tell him to stop, for him to turn around and tell me he made a mistake, that he loves me. But I don't deserve him. I messed up. I doubt he would forgive me, after me trying to sneak out to see Lachlan. I want to mentally reach out to him, to read his thoughts. About me. While his mind is probably organized and calmed, mine's in a jumble, and I feel a little dizzy. I lean against the wall. I place my hand on my forehead, pressing slightly. I release a short, quiet breath. My eyes shut in pain.
"Savannah?" Preston's voice is full of worry.
"I-I'm fine... just-you can leave, now, I guess," I murmur.
"No. You don't look okay," Preston places a gentle hand on my shoulder. I wince at his sudden touch. His hand slips away. "Look," he begins. I raise my hand.
"Nothing from the past matters right now, I just... I need it to be quiet," I interrupt, breathing more lightly. My knees lock, and I feel myself falling. Strong arms wrap around me, and pull me to the couch. My vision begins to blur, dark spots blotting it. Preston lays me down carefully, and whispers into my ear.
"I love you." After hearing his reassuring words, I find myself in darkness.

Preston
"I love you," I whisper into Savannah's ear. I sit back a bit, to stare at her beautiful features. I notice her eyes suddenly roll back, her mouth hang slightly open, and her head drop almost lifelessly sideways. My eyes widen, and I feel a huge jolt of pain in my heart, as if it's being stabbed.
"Savannah!" I say. "Savannah?!?" I wrap her arms around my neck, and pick her up bridal style. With anxious steps, I head to my car.
"Don't leave me, don't leave me, don't leave me," I constantly murmur. I lay her in the back seat, and fumble with my key, to start the engine. Then, I drive to the hospital, blindly aware of anything in my path.
"No matter what happens to me, or you, I will always love you, Savannah. I couldn't have left you, even if my life depended on it, please don't leave," I pause for a moment, wiping away a small tear. "I need you, Savannah. Please, please, please, let me save you again. I don't know what I'd do without you. I wouldn't be able to live without you," I whisper. Let me be your hero, Savannah. Let me save you . . .
