"We are looking for someone named Hayley Steel, does she work here?"
Everything in my mind froze, they found me? It was times like this that I wished I had my Mentis abilities, so I could see through the wall. So instead I snuck around and opened the door slightly and saw Scott, Stiles, Lydia and Allison standing on the other side of the bar.
I let the door close as I clutched my head with my hands, "Fuck," I whispered.
"I'm sorry, I've never heard of her before." Aurora said sincerely.
"Is there anyone else back there? I thought I heard someone." Scott questioned, and I felt myself panicking.
"Yeah, I'll go get her." I heard her footsteps approaching the door as I started pacing, "Hey, there are some people here that need some help looking for someone. Could you go out and talk to them."
I rapidly shook my head and she gave me a confused look. So, I decided to lie, "I can't, one of them is my ex." I blurted out rather quickly feeling my pulse rise.
She nodded, and her mouth formed and 'o' shape, "Right, gotcha, I'm on it." She said and walked back out. "Sorry, she hasn't heard of your friend Hayley."
I let out a sigh of relief, as I heard her covering for me. "Would you be able to check the rooms, to see if she is staying here?" Stiles asked.
"I'm sorry that information is private, we aren't allowed to give guest information out."
"Please, it's important. We wouldn't be asking if it wasn't important." Allison implored.
I heard Aurora sigh. Damn it, I knew she would cave. "There isn't anyone staying here named Hayley Steel. Only four other people have checked in. Georgia Wentworth, Bradly Townsen, Alicia Bennett and Max Sawyer."
Ah Max, so that was his name. "Wait, hold on a sec." Lydia stated, "Wasn't Hayley's Mum named Alicia Bennett?"
My mind raced as I heard Lydia slowly figuring out my façade, "No, her Mum's name was Alicia Steel." Scott replied.
"No, her maiden name was Bennett. You're right Lydia, that has to be Hayley." Allison replied. I ripped off my apron, grabbed my bag and darted out the back door. I had to get out of here now.
I can't believe that they came looking for me. Didn't they get the hint when I told them I was leaving to stay away. I let out a huff as I ran into my motel room. I ripped open the wardrobe and dumped stuff into a duffel bag that I kept under the bed.
I saw something out of the corner of my eye, and saw a cockroach crawl out of the wardrobe. My whole body shivered in disgust, as I looked at the pest crawling across my floor. I shook it off and continued to throw stuff into my bag.
One questioned roamed throughout my mind, where the hell was I going to go now. I didn't have a car, and I had no clue where the nearest motel was from here. I started to panic as I realised how soon they would be knocking on my door. I would not be surprised if Aurora had told them my room number, or if she gave them a key to my door. Aurora was too sweet and ditsy at times to think before she acts.
All I wanted was a life away from Beacon Hills. I don't want responsibility, I just want to be left alone.
There was a knock on my door as Scott's voice rang out, "Hayley, you in there?" I didn't reply. Instead I opened the window, popped out the screen and threw my bag out. The door knob shook, and my heartbeat fastened. "I think someone is in there, I can hear noises." Scott said to the others.
I quickly did one last scan of my room, before I jumped out of the window and landed awkwardly onto the ground. I grabbed my bag, and heard the door swing open. I ran so fast behind the building that had all the rooms in it. "Hayley!" Allison yelled out, and I turned around to see her head poking out the window, looking straight at me.
My legs kept pumping, and I slammed into something hard, and said a string of curse words under my breath. My vision blurred, and I could tell Scott was standing right in front of me. His hand gripped my bicep as he pulled me up, "You alright?" He worriedly asked, and my head throbbed slightly from the sudden impact.
"I'm great," I sarcastically remarked.
Scott took me back to my motel room and I sat on the bed, staring at my friends. Silence filled the room, and I could feel an awkward atmosphere forming, "So, how have you been?" Stiles started, and I rolled my eyes.
"I've been okay," Stiles nodded at my response and everyone's eyes stayed on me. My body shuddered as I felt myself becoming very uncomfortable, "Just cut the shit, and tell me what you all are really doing here, because I doubt it was to see how I was doing." I bluntly stated.
Scott and Allison exchanged a worried look, at my sudden choice of words, "We want you to come back to Beacon Hills." Scott confessed as his eyes locked with mine. I could see the worry in his eyes. No doubt he could smell the panic oozing off me, as I forced my face to remain blank.
"Yeah, that won't be happening. I'm not going back there." I snarled and squinted my eyes.
"Hayley, you need to come home. We all miss you." Allison said as she stepped forward.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest, "That's lovely, but I have a much better life here, then I ever did there."
I watched Lydia's eyes scanning my room, and then scanning me. I knew she was trying to figure out what I had been up to ever since I left. "You really think living at a grubby, cheap-priced motel is counted as living a better life?" She asked.
I nodded and laughed, "Yeah well not all of us can live in a palace and have a perfect life like you Lydia." I rebuked, and she scoffed at me.
As I went to open my mouth I saw a familiar blond walk past my room, his head turned, and his eyes connected to mine, "Hey Alicia, tonight was fun, hoping we can go for round two later." He winked, and I flirtatiously smiled back.
Lydia's mouth dropped, "Wow, so you've been sleeping around." She laughed and shook her head.
"Lydia you can't just assume that she has been-" Stiles began before I interrupted him.
"So, what if I've been sleeping around. I'm allowed to have fun, I'm allowed to be reckless. This is my life."
Stiles pursed his lips together as he realised Lydia was correct, "Okay, never mind, continue assuming things Lydia."
"Do you even know that guy?" Allison piped up, obviously trying to figure me out.
I nodded, "Yeah, that's um, Malcolm, or was it Marcus." I pondered. I really needed to start getting better at remembering names.
"I can't believe you don't even remember his name. Never in a million years would I have thought, that you Hayley, would become a slut."
I put my hand to my heart and sighed dramatically, "I am so deeply offended." I stated and started giggling.
I found it funny that my friends actually thought I was the same person they said goodbye to three months ago. "You've become a real bitch as well." Lydia snapped back.
"You say that like it's a bad thing." I smiled slyly, and Lydia groaned.
Scott shook his head, "Guys, can we all just chill out for a second. Come on Hayley, it's time to come home."
I stood up, so I was a few inches away from them, "Let me get this through your thick skulls. I am not going anywhere. So, all of you can march out the door and go back home."
"But-" Stiles started.
"I am not going anywhere." I snarled, and Stiles gulped. I waved my hand in a shooing motion and Allison's eyes filled with disappointment.
Lydia rolled her eyes as she walked out the door. Scott looked towards Stiles, and Stiles eyes flickered with a glint of hope. I squinted my eyes in confusion as Stiles said, "Alright, plan b."
I went to stand up to protest that nothing they would say or do would get me to leave. But, I was soon grabbed by Stiles and Scott as Lydia walked in with a white cloth. She evilly smirked at me, "Lights out Steel," She said as she put the cloth on my face. I knew chloroform was obviously on the cloth as I felt my eyes dropping.
"You bitch," I muffled.
"You say that like it's a bad thing." She imitates, and I felt my eyes close, as my mind went blank.
