Chapter 4: Branch and Jamie Smile and Talk About the Holiday Idea

Branch and Jamie went to their bedroom and got ready for the night. Jamie sat on the bed as Branch took his robe off, only wearing shorts.

"Okay. Jamie, go ahead and teach me to smile," Branch said, sitting beside her.

"Alright, I'll give you my top 3 ways for the best smile," Jamie remarked then started, "Number 1: Think of something funny. Observe."

She closed her eyes and thought of something. A thought came to her and she erupted in a giggling fit. Branch loved watching this.

"What did you think of?" he wondered.

"When you attempted to do your happy shout after Bridget's and Gristle's first date," she answered.

She giggled as he rolled his eyes with a smirk.

Jamie calmed down and continued, "Okay. Number 2: Think of a sweet moment. For example, when you helped Bridget complement Gristle, I thought that was one of the sweetest things you've ever done."

Branch blushed and responded, "Thanks."

She kissed his cheek.

"Then, last but not least, number 3: Think of the one person who has brought you the most happiness. And I think you can guess who that is for me," she hinted as she rested her head on his shoulder.

Branch chuckled, kissed her forehead, and stated, "Thanks, Jamie. Those are really good ways to learn how to smile."

"Thanks," she responded.

They laid together in the bed, wrapped in each other's arms, when Branch thought of something.

"Jamie?" he said.

"Yeah?" she responded.

"Do you really like the idea of doing what you and Poppy thought of today?" Branch asked.

"Yeah. Poppy and I have always done stuff like this since we were born. We just want the Bergens to celebrate stuff like we do since they don't have anything to do that anymore," Jamie explained.

"I get that, but I'm nervous at how much glitter she's going to put into it," he commented.

Jamie giggled and looked at Branch, who caressed her cheek.

"You seriously have the best smile," Branch said.

"Years of practice," Jamie joked.

He chuckled and kissed her gently. She kissed back as they wrapped their arms around each other more and Branch got on top of her. This continued for a while until they decided to turn in. They soon fell asleep until Jamie opened one eye, kissed Branch's forehead, left a note she wrote earlier just in case, and left to see Poppy.
