Part Two of Straight To Hell And Back

Rian's P.O.V.

------

"Okay, I don't appreciate you bringing me into that, but you do have a point there." I replied.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I regretted it when I said it, knowing you'd wanna know what happened. But thanks for being cool about it, I was afraid you'd hate me, ha," Jack said. "Anyway, then Cody got angry and shouted at me, calling me 'illiterate' and himself an authoritative figure. I got smart-assy again, but before Cody could beat the shit out of me, Alex stopped the bickering like he does in 2nd period with me and Kellin almost everyday. Then he asked Alex to get back together with him again, and Alex didn't give in once. Cody went through his normal routine when he cheats on people, saying that he does love them, blah, blah, blah. Alex told him to leave, but before he could protest, Mr. Merrick threatened him pretty subtly, but not subtle enough. Basically, he said "Cody, I suggest you leave before you end up in the hospital." and with that, Cody let go of Alex's wrists and bolted out of the house."

I busted out laughing. "Are you serious?" I asked, laughing, and clutching my sides. Cody was scared of Mr. Merrick? That's hilarious! Jack nodded, laughing out loud with me. Mr. Merrick is pretty much the nicest and non-violent guy/teacher Jack and I know! ESPECIALLY since he taught Physical Education and Weight Training.

"It was hilarious that he was so scared and intimidated by Mr. Merrick," Jack said, I nodded in agreement. "Mr. Merrick is probably one of the nicest dudes I know!"

"You psychic or something?" I asked.

"No. Why?" he responded.

"Because you just read my mind," I said. "I was thinking the same thing about Mr. Merrick." Jack laughed once again and hit my shoulder playfully.

"Well then I guess I am, aren't I?" he winked. Good god. This was one of the many reasons Jack and I had been friends for so long, he could be serious and funny at the same time, but also really nice. Plus, we had a few things in common, which made us be able to socialize with each other better.

I snickered at Jack response, then gazed at him, becoming more serious again. He looked afraid.

"So, Jack," I said. "How was your "lesson" with Mr. Gaskarth?" I used the quotation mark hand gesture for the word lesson and winked at him. He smiled slightly and rolled his eyes.

"If you're asking me if I fucked our teacher, no it didn't happen...yet." he replied. Not yet? That was a surprise, but I wasn't surprised to see his determination.

"Why not?!"

"Because he was crying when Cody came, he's obviously not ready to move on quite yet," Jack said. "I don't want to pressure him into anything. You know I'm not that kind of man whore." Touché.

"Ahh, you have a point," I said. "But I think he's got an attraction to you."

"What do you mean?" he asked, confused. Of course he was oblivious.

"I mean, I think he sees you more as a fuck-n-go, Jacky." I said.

"What? No he doesn't."

"Trust me, Jay, I know Alex."

"As much as I'd like to believe you, I don't."

"Did you just admi--"

"NO! That's not what I meant, Ri! Oh god, no. You know I don't do relationships. I meant that as "I know you never lie, but I don't believe you." he interrupted. I laughed.

"I know, Jack," I said, still kind of laughing. "I was fucking with you."

"Screw you." he said.

"When?" I remarked, moving my eyebrows up and down with a smirk. He broke out laughing, and I soon followed.

Later that night when Jack decided he should get home, I called Alex. I am determined to figure this out.

He answered after 3 rings, and he sounded tired. It was 10 PM, though, so I would have expected that.

"Rian, why are you calling?" he asked, his voice barely audible.

"Are you crushing on Jack?" I asked. Way to sugar coat it and be straight forward, Rian.

"U-Uhh, uhh," he stammered. "Y-Yeah, I am. Why? Is it obvious? Does he feel the same?" Oh my god, he's acting like a school girl!

"I knew it! No, Jack's oblivious, but I know you too well," I said. "But here's some advice: You know Jack thinks you're attractive, but I wouldn't get involved if you want a relationship with him."

"W-Why?" he asked.

"Uh, well, Jack isn't a guy who does relationships. He's more like a friend with benefit or a fuck-n-go," I replied. "He wanted to fuck you yesterday, but, well, Cody was there, and he didn't want to pressure you into anything you weren't ready for. He's not like a lot of those man whores, he'll spare your feelings the best he can, and he doesn't want to hurt you, he just...it's hard to explain. Alex, I'm sorry if I ruined your night, but I needed to know and I wanted to warn you about him."

"O-Oh," he sounded sad. Oh, no, no, no. I didn't want this to happen.

"Alex, please don't cry. Please. I just wanted to warn you before something started up between you two," I said. "I didn't want it to hurt you more if you got too attached. I-I'm sor--"

"It's fine, Rian," he interrupted. "Thanks for the warning." he sniffled. I can't believe I just did that. I didn't want to hurt him, but I didn't want to see him a wreck if he got too attached to Jack. I'm just trying to protect him from an even bigger heartbreak. Getting cheated cheated on by someone you loved and trusted is one thing, but getting attached and falling in love with a guy who is opposed to relationships is another. Alex is one of my best friends, even though he IS my music teacher, he's still a good friend and a nice guy. Jack is the same, but come on, it's JACK. He's kind of a whore. Kind of? Oh, who am I kidding? He pretty much is a whore.

The thing is, when Jack had moved, he wasn't able to be there when Cody made me feel awful. Alex and Cody were dating at that time, and they had been living here for a while until Cody found a job. During that time, Alex was working at Starbucks, barely making enough money to find a house or an apartment for him and Cody. And knowing myself, I loved coffee, preferrably Starbucks, so I was always there. He'd see right through me when I was down, always asking if I was alright. He was there for me, and he still is, and I owe it to him.

"Don't mention it, Lex," I said. "You're practically one of my best friends. Plus, you've always been there for me. It's time for me to be there for you. Why don't you come over? Jack's not here, so it won't be awkward. Also we haven't really had a real conversation in a while, miss you Gaskarth."

I could practically hear his smile. "Miss you too, Dawson," he replied. "I'll be right over, just let me grab my things since we both gotta get up early tomorrow morning anyway."

"Yay!" I quietly cheered.

Alex chuckled. "Alright, I'll see you soon, fucker." he said.

"See ya, Alex!" and we hung up. Finally, some time with my other home boy.
