"Darlin' darlin' doesn't have a problem, lying to herself, 'cause her liquors top-shelf." Lizzy ended on a subtle note. The crowd goes wild, then she bids them goodnight, cleverly hiding her exhaustion. Roses in bouquets and singles, flew over audience members' heads, only to fall short of her feet. Lizzy picks up one that freshly landed by her foot, the nails painted her signature shade of red, peer through an opening in the 4-inch-heels. Then she walks off the stage, a dazzling smile graced upon her face.
"Lana! Great show, you really sung your heart out up there!" Geoffrey Haggins, one of her violinist, shouted to Lizzy, as he grabbed two water bottles and placed another in his satchel. " Thanks, Geoff. You and Clarisse were brilliant, up there. Where is CC anyways?" Clarisse and Geoff were married, and Lana had them both hired. They started off touring with Christina Perri, then with Coldplay, and a few other A-listers before they ended up on Lana's musicians panel. Lizzy admired their talent, and their companionship. CC and Geoff have been together for 12 years, and were friends for 7 years before that. She wanted a love like that, one day. "She just went back to the lobby for a spare key. Remember our show in Johannesburg? She doesn't want to risk being locked out of the room again, that's all. But she should be back soon." He finished with a smile. He handed her one of the water bottles, in which Lana gladly accepted. He began gulping down his water like he just ran a marathon, then pointed his water bottle in her direction, sloshing a bit out onto the dusty warehouse floor (the venue was an abandoned warehouse!). Lizzy snorted in laughter as CC walked up behind Geoff. "Oi! What's so funny?" Clarisse inquired. She was a Scot; her parents moved their family to the states when she was 12, so the accent stuck.
"I'm just laughing at your clumsy husband, now why'd you try to splash me?" Lana attempted to hold in her laughter, since the look on CC's face was side-splitting. "You what!?" Clarisse shrieked in disbelief of her husband, whose cheeks were now rosy. "You tried to pour water on Lana, our beloved Lana? WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU?" Lizzy was clutching her sides, trying to contain it all, but the attempt was futile, she burst into laughter.
"CC, gees, I didn't do it on purpose! I was just gonna ask Liz what she had planned during the tour-break." He turned to the slightly subdued singer. Lizzy looked thoughtful for a moment, then answered: "Well, I didn't have anything planned; maybe just visit my family. But I need to prep for this upcoming performance I have on Saturday Night. Live televised performances are going to take some getting used to, so why not start on a hilarious skit-show?" She tried to sound optimistic about the gig, but she was instead racked with nerves. Plus, the face of the Harry Potter franchise was hosting! Everyone will be watching this, so the pressure is very much real. But they would try to convince the singer otherwise. "That's wonderful, Lana! You definitely need more friends, not that we mind your company!" She quickly added. Geoff just chuckled, earning himself a light punch in the arm from his wife. "Geoffrey! This is serious!" She turned to Lana, "Love, please promise to try and make at least one friend? I know you don't get to talk to your mates back in the States much, so this could be a great social opportunity." She was unknowingly giving Lana the push she needed for the events that are to come. Lana grinned a little, then said, "Deal. Okay, I love you guys. Don't be a stranger!" She yelled after them, following a departing hug and peck on the cheek. The older couple grabbed hands and were instantly submerged in a hushed conversations, leading to laughter and smiles, as they headed for the exit, passing the workers backstage. Yes, Lizzy thought, I want a love like theirs.
