A sigh of relief

I watch her smiling crookedly at me while the tears stream down her face. Her presence rendered me speechless as I could feels the tears weling up in my eyes as well. My friend who I didn't even give a single thought to up until this very moment through out that entire ordeal, is alive and well. I could only imagine what she went through while this all happened... but I couldn't ask. Not now.
She gets back on her feet and holds out her hand smiling, accompanied by a sun flair peeking over her shoulder.
"Come on, Kya would love to know you're ok."
I look up at her in the angelic light and I took her hand lifting myself to my feet and nodded at her.
"Lets go see our friend" I say in a slightly exhausted yet joyful voice.

As we walk neither of us speaks. I think it's because we don't have much else to talk about. Despite the fact that we just went through an entire ordeal, I don't think neither of us really wants to discuss it. I glance over to her to confirm. Her is face still pale, even more than usual.
"Ices!?"
I hear a childish voice scream and within seconds being pounced upon by a fair blond haired girl was clinging onto me as if I was a twig hanging off a cliff.
"Oh my god I can't believe you're alive! Well, I kinda can but I'm just so happy I could scream!"
She opens her mouth taking a deep breath to let out one of her famous ear piercing screams, but before she gets to unleash it me and Mi-sa both put our hands over her mouth.
"Haha, Kya, we get it you're happy... like always" Mi-sa mutters under her breath. I look at her as I heard what she said but to no surprise Kya didn't take notice of her negativity.
"Shushesh! You hear that?" She says raising her finger in the air. We stay quiet to listen when we hear a stomach grumble.
"I knew it! Ice is hungry!" She exclaims.
"Eh well.. waahh-!" Before I get to finish she grabs my arm and runs into the building we are standing in front of and pushes me down, by the shoulders, to sit, where there is a blanket with 4 pieces of bread and she sits opposite me crossed legged.
"Food!" She says. I look down and I'm almost drewling seeing food after not having eaten sins yesturdays breakfast. I pick up a piece of bread and hold it up to my face and hold it there for two seconds before taking a giants chomp out of it. I don't even chew for long before swallowing. I let out a sigh dropping my shoulders then eating the other half.
"Ahh! I really needed that"
I look down at the amount of breads counting three.
"Em why is there four breads?"
Mi-sa then replies.
"Well... we didn't think you died so we prayed you would come to us which you did but... we also came in with Kya's brother..."
"Rin? Made it too!?" I say raising my eyebrows looking around then at Kya
"Oh, where i-" Her expression had now completely capsized into oblivion and shakes her head.
"He em" She brushes her nose with the face of her hand then looks at me "He went outside to check what was going on, when he heard the crash of the wall... the titans invaded so fast they reached our neighbourhood before we knew it. We heard heavy thumping outside so my brother went to look... It was right there at our door.... just, staring him in the eyes and it.. grabbed him-" she stops and starts to sob, Mi-sa let's her cry on her shoulder as she continues.
"The titan took a bite out of his legs. Then just dropped him on their doorstep... and all we could do was watch. Their dad then told us to go and take him to the next wall and try to find help. There wasn't time to question because he ran out in the other direction. And I don't know what happened to him after that but I don't think..." she looks at Kya who had calmed down but didn't continue for her sake.
"We did what he asked and brought Rin to the wall and we were given bandages to patch up his wounds but by then he had already lost too much blood... he passed on the boat ride here...." she grits her teeth" and then some rando decides to complain about the stench of his rotting corps..." she again looks at Kya who again looked like she wanted to cry but simply shook her head. "They threw his body overboard..We didn't even get to bury him!" She yells which startled me and Mi-sa as she never shouted before in all the time we knew eachother. I lean over and hug her.
"I'm so sorry.... I couldn't imagine what that was like."
I looked at Mi-sa who also seemed upset as both her parents died on the battlefield because they were both scouts so to her this might as well have been front row seats to and accurate representation to what their deaths looked like. And then reminising what happened to my family. I could feel a raging fire build up inside me. I then sit back again.
"Guys we have to do something about this" I say in a strong voice as i stand up. They just look at me confused.
"Our families died because of the titans. We can't just let them get away with that" I explain
"Yes I get that but what do you wanna do? Kill them?" Mi-sa says.
"No that isn't the reason why they died. Sure they killed them physically but how come they got in, in the first place, hm?"
"Because they broke the wall?" Kya says hesitantly
I sigh "No.. well yes but that's not what I mean. It's the fault of the government! The scouting regiment does all the work fighting titans and they only just came back. Most even injured including my dad. Then the Garrison are all drunkards like Hannes and the Milatary Police just guard the King and from what might I add? But then who was looking out for us? They should have done more to keep us safe than build a wall. Just one regiment isn't enough to keep an entire city safe from the millions of titans that flood in from the outside. They should have been better prepared for this! That makes them our real enemy." I say angrily clenching my fists.
"Well I guess you're right... But what can we do we're jus-"
"No!" I say pointing at her cutting her off. "That attitude is the whole reason why nothing was done in the first place. We can be anything we want. Go anywhere we want to go. And they can't control us. Especially now!"
They exchange looks. Kya looks down at the bread cleching her eyes then standing with me.
"I'm with you Ices." We both look at Mi-sa. She sighs then she stands up.
"You do make a good point but we'll probably die anyway" we exchange looks then break the serious mood with hysterical laughter.
"Ok then. It's just us now"
