Lost in thinking of potential jobs, she noticed there was a commotion up at the entrance. "Vince, you promised you would come to brunch with my parents!" A tall, curvy, woman whined like a toddler.
"No, Jennett. I said I would try, but I had a business meeting to attend." The man completely ignores her as he explains. No doubt this woman was as spoiled as a child, Emily was sure of it. The blonde made even more of a spectacle of herself by clinging to this 'Vince' guy, as if she would be lost without him.
"Well, we are going to be engaged," she purred, "Daddy said so." She added, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "So, you should spend time with them."
Emily observed the scene before her, finding it hilarious. 'Because daddy said so?' Wow. Is all she could think.
"No.We are not engaged, Jen. Last time I checked I did not ask for your hand in marriage, now did I?." The man replied firmly.
'Oh, burn.' Emily smirks.
Shrugging the female off of his person, her 'fiance' continues to speak. "Go do whatever it is that you do and leave me be. It will already be a long day without you making it worse. Now, while you call your driver, I will be getting myself a coffee." The man said, not once taking his eyes off the menu he now clasped in both hands.
Losing interest in the couple quickly, Emily resigns to her own thoughts. Jealousy rears its ugly head as she avoids viewing the couple any longer. What could she possibly be jealous of? She has never had an actual relationship herself, just flings. She was sure she didn't want what that couple had. "I am not jealous. I am not." She assures herself, whispering down at at her latte.
Emily catches Shawn's eye across the shop as she is talking to herself "Great. Now he thinks I'm insane."
"VINCE!" Jennett's loud scream catches everyone's attention.
"Vince, nothing. Jennett, I am not going to that event. I said no, and I mean it." This is the first time Emily has seen him pay any attention to the stricken and distraught female.
Emily guessed that she had missed a large part of the debacle in front of her, she was highly confused.
"I have to find an assistant. I've explained this to you countless times, now." This little detail caught Emily's full attention.
"I told you I can be your assistant. Your sexy, naughty, assistant that you lay across your desk and ravish." Jennett exclaims, squeezing her flushed chest against his arm, if that's possible.
"Jennett, I need an actual assistant. You have never worked a day in your life. The last thing I need is for you to screw things up for me." He said, leaving no room to argue, as he shrugs her off his arm once again. " I need one with experience and you don't have any."
Damn, neither did Emily. The only experience she has is breaking printers, although he looked like she could afford a few. Absentmindedly taking another sip of her latte, she misses her mouth and drenches the front of her shirt, "Great..." She groans. 'This day just keeps getting better', she thinks as she grabs a handful of napkins.
Loud laughter catches her attention, and Emily looks up. The blonde lady, Jennett was staring straight at her, cackling obnoxiously. "Honey, she just missed her entire mouth!"
Eyes turn to look at her as if she is interesting. "Look away, people. Nothing to see here. It's just another snotty princess that feels entitled to humiliate others." Emily says as she dabs her blouse, a few chuckles are heard around the room at her comment. Everyone turning back to their own tables.
