CHAPTER FOUR

I collapsed onto the bed, exhausted after the show. It was incredible, though, and I know Asher enjoyed it- even though he pretended to hate it. Asher lay down on the bed beside me, draping his arm over my stomach. I pushed uselessly at it and Asher smirked at my weakness. I gave up trying to get him to move his arm and rolled onto my side to face him.

            "So you're a hybrid, too, aren't you?" I asked.

            "Yep," Asher nodded. "Witch-Vampire hybrid."

"Jeez are all hybrids half witch?" I inquired.

"No," he chuckled. "It's just the most common. There are Necromancer hybrids, and the Fallen have a couple hybrids, the fey folk don't have very many. They've got like one. And I heard she died five years ago."

"Why aren't there more fey folk hybrids?" I wondered.

"They tend to mate within their own kind," Asher responded.

"Oh. That makes sense," I yawned. "I'm tired."

"Then go to sleep, silly," Asher laughed at me.

            "I don't wanna," I said childishly.

"How about I sing you a song?" Asher suggested.

            "Okay," I yawned again.

I closed my eyes as Asher started singing Endless Night from the Lion King on Broadway softly. I thought it was funny, a vampire singing such a sweet song. But as I listened to the lyrics I realized they sort of fit me. it was my choice of course to leave, but still.

Where has the starlight gone?

Dark is the day

How can I find my way home?

Home is an empty dream

Lost to the night

Father, I feel so alone

You promised you'd be there

Whenever I needed you

Whenever I call your name

You're not anywhere

I'm trying to hold on

Just waiting to hear your voice

One word, just a word will do

To end this nightmare

When will the dawning break

Oh endless night

Sleepless I dream of the day

When you were by my side

Guiding my path

Father, I can't find the way

You promised you'd be there

Whenever I needed you

Whenever I call your name

You're not anywhere

I'm trying to hold on

Just waiting to hear your voice

One word, just a word will do

To end this nightmare...
