I ripped the curtain open, sunlight filling my bed room. I scrunched up my eyes and looked down at the road. Everything was covered in a thin layer of rain. Which was usual for Pennsylvania.
I grabbed my shirt off my bed and slid it over my head. I walked sluggishly to the bathroom across the hall and looked in the mirror at myself. My smooth tan skin, bronze tinted hair and deep brown eyes. I smiled as I ran a comb though the knots
. I took a quick shower then hurried back into my bed room with a towel around my waist. I put on jeans and I polo, gelling my hair. I slid on my converse as I head toward my sister's room.
"Bella?" I knocked on her door while pushing my car keys into my back pack. The door quickly opened to my 14 year old sister. Her black hair was braided neatly down her back, and she was dressed in jeans and an over sized sweater.
"Let's go," she pushed past me with her backpack slung over her shoulder. It was Friday, and I was glad for that.
"Alright," I walked after her as we went into the garage and into my car. Off we went to out high school.
Once we were driving, I glanced over at my sister. She was scrolling through her phone. I looked up at the road while tapping on the wheel nervously. Rain poured down. It was close to being snow.
I never thought it through, but it was weird with our parents both being in the hospital. I care for my sister. I'm practically her legal guardian, since both our parents are close to death. I sniffled, and I didn't know I was crying until Bella said something.
"Cas? Are you crying?" she murmured, her brows furrowed.
"No," my voice cracked as I rubbed my eyes and looked over to her.
"What's wrong?" Bella clicked her phone off.
"I was just thinking about mom and dad," I said casually, pulling into our high schools parking lot.
"Oh, Cas," she sympathized, her gaze hollow. "I know you miss them, I miss them too," her lip quivered.
"They aren't gone yet, Bell," I murmured, rubbing her hand.
"It seems like they are."

I pulled open my locker to see a note pinned to the door. I pulled it off and narrowed my eyes as I read it.
Hey, meet me in the chem lab at 4th period.
See ya.
-Lacey
I rolled my eyes and shoved the not into my pocket. Lacey was an old friend of mine I'd known since 5th grade. I am pretty sure she was into me. I grabbed my Spanish tablet and textbook and shut the door. I smiled at the note Lacey gave me. I wasn't sure if I had feelings for her. I went through the morning normally, or as normal as my days are. Calling the hospital my parents were in, sitting at the back of the class room alone and nerding out and walking through the halls by myself. When 3rd period was over, I dropped my books off in my locker before heading toward the science wing. I shoved my hands into my pockets as I slid around the corner. I paused at a pair of glass doors and took a deep breath before stepping inside the lab. The chemical smell hit me hard. I was light headed and nauseous for a moment. I glanced around the room.
"Lacey?" I called, strolling down the isles between the tables.
"Here!" she called, popping out from under a table.
"Jesus," I flinched. She smiled and pushed her glasses up her nose.
"Sorry," she smiled nervously. Her ginger hair was in curls around her head, and her amber eyes were as bright as ever.
