I stood at the end of my bed and stared at the comforter. My mind was blank; I couldn't think. I picked up my phone nervously and began to type.

Ollie, can you meet me at the airport? I need to leave now, I can't take this anymore. Will you accept my goodbye?

A few moments later it buzzed against my waist. I pulled it from my pocket and gripped it in my palms. I stared at the screen.

What time does it leave? School. I can try. And don't worry, I have a little departing gift for you. ;)

My chest buzzed with happiness. It was a weird feeling, but I liked it. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply.

Next thing I knew, I was 13 and sitting on a swing. I blinked my eyes. I was uncertain of where I was at the time. I stood and let my legs wobble under me. I gripped the pole beside me and stared out into the horizon.

I was certain now where I was; Louisiana.

The horizon was dark. My view of the city was blocked by a river, a dark winding blotch. I forced a smile. I looked down at my upturned hands. My eyes widened and I stifled a screech.

Blood was seeping from the creases. I clenched them into fists and closed my eyes tightly. I opened them to see my stark tan skin, free of blood. I let out a sigh and sat back down on the swing. My heart was still racing.

"Grace?" said a voice. I leapt off the swing and spun around. My field of vision was clear of any human looking figures. I blinked my eyes and I was standing back at the end of my bed.

"Sorry, what?" I turned around to see my mom standing there.

"Are you ok, sweetie?" she asked, cocking her head to the side.

"Day dreaming," I said.

"Okay. Are you ready to leave yet? We can drive you?" she offered and smiled sweetly.

"Ya," I paused to push some hair behind my left ear, "That sounds good," I smiled too and we wrapped each other in a hug.

"Thanks mom," I whispered into her shoulder.

"You've had a rough life. You need some space," she replies.

"Like, a lot," I smiled and step back. She nodded and smiled.

"I need to finish packing," I pointed my thumb over my shoulder.

"Okay," she smiled again and squeezed my shoulder before leaving. I sighed and spun around on my heel. I let myself flop onto the bed, lying on my back. I closed my eyes and held my breath.

Would I be able to do this?

I had too, I was sure of it. I opened my eyes and stood. I grabbed a few things, some of the little I had, and shoved them into my suit case. A suit case full. That's all I had. I sighed and zipped it shut. I pulled my phone back out at peeked at the time. 12:36. My flight left at 3 and I needed time to gather myself at the airport.
