Percy's POV (Dude I got so much love on this story thank you guys so much!)
I limped to school the next day, plastering a grin on my face. It was a fine Monday morning, also known as the starting point of my ride through hell. I smiled as I saw Nico, Leo and Jason leaning against my locket. (Those are the three dating options, by the way. Tell me if you want Pernico, Perleo, or Jercy!)
"Hey!" Leo greeted with a broad grin that didn't look fake, unlike mine. "How was your weekend?"
"You know, the usual. Meeting the most popular chick in school at a worn down cemetery. Just my everyday life." I said, rolling my eyes as I opened my locker.
"Annabeth?" Nico asked, twisting his skull ring around his skinny finger.
"That's her." I confirmed, opening my locker.
"What was she doing at a cemetery?" Nico asked.
"Apparently one of her friends, Luke Castellan, committed suicide." I said with a shrug. They frowned.
"Wait, what were YOU doing at a cemetery?" Jason asked, narrowing his eyes at me. Right, they didn't know my mom was dead.
"Uh... Visiting?" I asked, slamming my locker shut and hefting my bag over my shoulder.
"Dude, that's a Nico thing. Please tell me you're not going to become Nico, because we really don't need another pessimist!" Leo begged, clasping his hands together like he was praying.
Nico smacked the back of his head, scowling. "It's in my nature. If I wasn't the pessimist we'd all be floating on rainbows and clouds with hope and, uh... What's that other thing? Oh yeah, happiness? And we can't have that."
I laughed at the irony of that. "Right. Plus if Nico wasn't the pessimist the least optimistic person would become the pessimist right?" I asked.
"So Jason would be the pessimist?" Leo asked, looking up at him.
"No. Percy. Have you seen him in a bad mood? It's freaky." Nico said, narrowing his eyes at me.
"Dude I've never seen Percy in a bad mood, and if it's freaky from you? The guy who collects skulls for a hobby? Yeah, I'd prefer to NOT see Percy's moody side." Leo suddenly gasped. "Maybe that's what turned Nico into a pessimist! Percy you're the pessimist Medusa!"
"Gee, thanks, 'cause I just love being called a mythological monster." I said, rolling my eyes.
"Don't we all. I got the nickname Hades." Nico muttered.
"Zeus." Jason muttered back.
"I'm Tony Stark!" Leo stated proudly, puffing out his chest.
"No one calls you that." Jason, Nico and I chorused, making Jason and I burst into laughter and Nico grin slightly. He's got as bad a poker face as me.
"Oh crap the bells gonna ring! Gotta go!" Leo yelled, scrambling down the hall and around the corner. I sighed and looked down the hall, where my history class awaits.
"See you at lunch guys! Bye!" I exclaimed, waving to my friends as I barged into my History class. I quickly got in my seat, ignoring all the staring eyes. Mostly from girls.
"Dean Hilman?" the teacher called.
"Here!" he exclaimed.
"Percy Jackson?"
"Present." I called. He nodded and continued down the list.
"Right. Now who can tell me why World War I started?"
Cue me zoning out. I thought about the injuries I sustained last night. A few punches and a single beer bottle. I got my limp from tripping over myself trying to get up the stairs.
"Mr. Jackson, would you like to answer my question?" The teacher called, snapping my from my thoughts.
"Uh, I'm sorry can you repeat that?" I asked quietly.
"I said what were the two countries that sparked World War I?" he asked with a sigh.
"Uh... Serbia and Austria-Hungary, right?" I asked nervously.
He looked disappointed. "Class dismissed."
I headed to my next class, which was English. "Get out your laptops and work on your essay." the teacher, Mrs. Minerva, told us sternly.
We all mumbled a 'Yes ma'am' before pulling out our laptops. We had to type an essay about our family. How ironic. I stared at the blinking line on the empty paper. What am I supposed to type? My mom's dead, my stepdad's abusive, and my dad left my family before I was born. Who am I supposed to write about? "Mr. Jackson, your screen is blank." the teacher, said, kneeling down next to me. "Is there a problem?" she asked, but it was more of a stern way.
I shook my head. "No ma'am. Just thinking." I muttered, running my hands along the keyboard.
"Well get to it." she stood up again and continued walking around the room. I glanced around me and saw people typing furiously and I sighed silently.
How come they can type? Don't their parents abuse them to? I once again stared at the blinking line on my blank document.
I did that for about ten more minutes before I saw Mrs. Minerva glaring at me from her desk. I sighed and began to type whatever came to mind. By the end of class, I only had a few sentences written. So... My family. My dad left before I was born, and my mom isn't really involved with me. My stepdad is the only one that... Interacts with me.
I closed my laptop as the bell rang, shoving it into my bag and running out the door. Or trying to. "Mr. Jackson, please come to my desk."
I groaned, internally at least, and smiled as I turned around and walked to her desk. "Yes ma'am?"
"This..." she gestured at her screen, which was viewing my very small essay. "Is not acceptable. Tell me more. Two or three sentences is not appropriate for a senior."
"Sorry ma'am. It's just a touchy subject for me." I mumbled, letting my smile drop slightly. Not willingly of course.
She studied me face with her intense grey eyes. "I'm sorry but this is a necessary grade. Now hurry on to your next class. Give them this." she scribbled something on a piece of paper and handed it to me.
I took it with a nod, flinching slightly. "Thank you ma'am." I ran to my next class, wincing slightly when my weight landed on my left leg.
The teacher glared at me when I came in. "Is there a reason you are late Jackson?" he sneered. I flinched as I handed him the note. He read it and then crumpled it into a ball. "Get to your seat."
I quickly got in my seat, once again zoning out. I made it to the end of class with no trouble and ran out, luckily to lunch. Not because I was hungry, but because I needed to see my friends.
I got the lunchroom and headed to my table, where all of my friends sat. Well, what friends I had. Nico, Jason, Leo and Frank were my only friends. Nico was the emo pessimist, Jason was Mr. Goody Two Shoes, Frank was a football built guy who was really gentle and had a babyish face, and Leo was just... Crazy. Yeah. Crazy.
Only this time I found a new person at our table- Annabeth Chase.
