 Chapter 7

Created Romance

"I can't take it anymore," I grunted to myself as I tried to keep my eyes on the book. I could feel the twenty-three pair of eyes on me as the teacher explained his lesson. My fingernails were tightly pressing the hardcover. I vaguely wondered if I was leaving holes on it.

When are these idiots going to give up? My eyes drifted slowly and only to the clock that was hanging above the white board. They have been staring at me for almost the entire period!

I brought my attention towards the book again. I grinded my teeth together trying to hold in the anger that was pulsing through me. I could hear their unspoken thoughts about me. I could feel curiosity, anger, and disgust in the air. The tension –my tension was rising and it was annoying me. There was only so little I hold on to.

As if on cue, the bell rang. I quickly grabbed my backpack an rushed out of the classroom before anyone else. Arms were wrapped around my waist from behind.

“Are you that eager to see me?” Nate whispered on my ear. His breath tingled making me giggle. Blood rushed immediately towards my face as the student faculty emerged from their classes and were staring at us. He chuckled, “come let’s go.” He released me as he grasps my left hand and towed me away from the school building. I brought my eyes up towards his and caught him smiling like an idiot. I couldn’t help, but smile at his expression. It was only then that I noticed that we were heading towards the school garden.

“Shouldn’t we go to class?” I asked. He grinned as he looked at me.

“Such a smart girl,” he quietly said as he sat down on a long wooden bench. I followed his example as I sat next to him.

“Why are here?” I inquired looking at him.

He locked gazes with me, “I want some privacy with my girlfriend.” My heart skipped a beat when he said my girlfriend. “I want to get to know my girlfriend more than anyone else. Show me a side that you aren’t willing to show anyone else.” His eyes were irresistible; his lips slightly parted were very tempting.

He drew closer as I began to blush uncontrollably. He placed his hand on top of mine. I swallowed hard as the words stammered out of me, “I-I l-like bears?” It came out as a question rather than a statement.

With that it broke the heavy tension. His was surprised by my answer and drew back instantly as he looked away.

Stupid, I thought to myself. Now he’s going to think weird thoughts about you! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

He laughed out loud making me jump from the sudden sound. “What’s so funny?”

He shook his head, “nothing. I just realized something.” I frowned at him.

“Realized what?” I asked curiously. He only shook his head as he brought his blue eyes on mine.

“So tell me,” he said changing the subject. “Tell about yourself. What do you do, like, hate things like that.”

I scratched the back of head, “I think I’ll be boring compared to you.” He smiled.

“Try me,” he said. I sighed as I looked at him with a trouble face already giving up. His expression of curiosity melted away the resistance. Just how many tricks does this guy have up his selves?

“I like the color light pastel green, I like to eat noodles, I like to make friends,” I said it as a list. He patiently listened to my boring likes. “I dislike science. What about you?”
