Chapter 3

"It's not the stress that kills us, but our reaction to it"

I suddenly found myself totally flustered. I felt like I couldn't breath -and the fact that August's face was inches from mine didn't help.

Yes, I know, you would have probably said yes to that gorgeous irresitable face. But put yourself in my position. I was a totally regular teenager. I couldn't trust a totally perfect guy, who could choose literally any girl he wanted.

So I did what any totally crazy girl would have done.

I slapped him right across the face, and, after a few seconds looking at him terrorized, I ran out into the school grounds.

After sitting there paralyzed for some time, I heard someone yelling my name. Scanning the horizon, I saw two figures running towards me.

"Hey Naomi!", I said as we pulled each other into a hug. Naomi has been my best friend since kindegarden. We told each other everything, and I was prepared to tell her my guilty secret.

"Hey Zack", I said, smiling nervously, and gave him an awkward hug. The truth is, I was feeling very uncomfortable around Zack. At the beggining of summer, he has asked me for a date and I had told him I would think about it. I hadn't needed all summer to think about it, I knew my answer. Even if he was good looking and nice, he just wasn't my type.

"Guess what", Naomi squeeled. "You know that hot, new guy called..: August Blake?" she asked excitedly.

Suddenly I had a really bad feeling about what she was going to say.

"Yeah, what about him?" I asked, dreading for the answer.

"He just asked me out for the First Party".
