I walked down the small walkway before I gasped at the disaster before me. Mark's room was ruined. Everything was out of place and scattered and broken all over the floor. It looked like a mad man threw a tantrum in here and took it out on the room. I hear Abe sigh before he appears next to me. "Looks rough, but I don't think he was killed here. Take a look around, see if you find anything, but BE CAREFUL. I've lost three partners before to bedroom booby traps." I raise my finger and open my mouth to talk but I stop myself. "Actually, I don't want to know," I said. "Trust me, you don't," he said. We went our separate ways to search for evidence. I scanned the floor, taking slow steps. "Make sure you don't tamper with any evidence!" I heard Abe order. I wave my hand in his direction, letting him know I heard him. I reached a table with only four photos sitting on it. I look at them and see that all of them are of Damian, Mark, and the Colonel. The first one showed them linking arms and smiling like children. I couldn't help but smile at it. The second one had the same three men but now a woman was there. She was clinging to Mark's arm and he was smiling at her. Sadly the Colonel and Damian were standing in the background stiffly. It was like the woman was tearing Mark and the others away. The third photo was just sad. Only Mark and Damian stood there, stiff as boards and unsmiling. I became upset just seeing a photo of Damian's sad face. I noticed the fourth and last picture was shattered so I picked it up to get a better look. "Lemme know if you find anything," Abe said. I glanced at it and turned to show Abe. "Detective, look at this," I said, lifting the picture up for him to see. "You find a clue?" I nodded. "I think so." I gazed at it sadly. It was the Colonel. Standing all alone, all by himself. I moved it away from my face to see the Colonel standing right in front of me. I take a step back in shock while Abe jerks up from sniffing some underwear when he hears the Colonel's voice.

"You're quite on the case, aren't you?" he told me darkly. "Say, detective?" He called out to Abe, never moving his eyes off me. "May I borrow your friend here?" Menace drowned in his voice. He was threatening me and it was nothing but suspicious. I then knew that no matter how I viewed the Colonel, he saw me as a threat; and only someone with something to hide would see me as such. I stepped closer to him. We stared off at each other, eyes narrowed. "Yeah, sure," Abe said slowly. "Don't worry, partner, I'll handle it from here." Abe pointed at me with the hand that was holding the underwear, before looking at it strangely and putting it in his pocket. I never wavered from the Colonel's stare. "Bully," Colonel growled, never looking away either. He turned around and started walking. "Take a walk with me," he ordered. I had a feeling that what had to say might give me some clues, so silently I followed him. "I thought that it was about time that we got to..." He paused and looked over his shoulder as we exited Mark's room. "...KNOW each other." He turned away again as we entered the hallway. "Someplace far, far away from the prying eyes of, uh..." He stopped to think, it seemed, before he spun my way and got right up in my face. "Anyone else," he growled. He bent his fingers in a 'come hither' motion. "Come with me," he ordered verbally. I complied. He opened a door and we ended up on the large back porch. I stared in confusion and looked up to the second story of the house. 'How did we end up in the backyard?' I wondered. 'We were on the second story and didn't even do down the stairs.'

"Now correct me if I'm wrong, but..." the Colonel spoke, unfazed by the mysterious lack of travel. He spun around and pointed at me as he walked backwards. "You and the Mayor know each other, right? Rather intimately I might say, hm?" He emphasized "intimately" and cocked an eyebrow at me with a sly grin on his face. I returned the cocked eyebrow, but with slight confusion instead of slyness. I hesitated at first but I decided to answer his honestly. "Yes. We've know each other since high school. He's been my closest friend and biggest support for years. But I'm not quite sure what you mean by "intimately"." He only chuckled in amusement at my oblivion. "Oh, never mind that." He waved his arm as if to shoo it away and he changed the topic. "He's a good man that one," he told me. Colonel slightly shook his fist as he talked. "We've been fast friends for as long as I can remember." He sounded so happy talking about Damien that he seemed to forget about his aggression towards me. For a split moment, it made me forgot my own suspicion and think of Colonel as a friend and not an enemy. Sadly, that feeling went away with the Colonel's next words. "Now there was a time when I could have said the same thing about Mark, but..." He looked at the ground, his fists clenched tightly with anger and his stance stiffening. "Well," he sighed, looking at me more relaxed, "best not to speak ill of the dead." By now, we've reached the pool. The shimmering waters caught the Colonel's attention, distracting him from our conversation. "Oh!" he exclaimed. "The pool hasn't aged a day!" I face my attention to the water for a moment before looking back at Colonel. Only to find that he somehow changed into a red and white striped swimsuit and a hat! "GERONIMO!" He shouted gleefully. He ran and cannon balled into the pool, causing a large splash. I shrieked and shielded myself from the incoming water, unable to prevent myself from laughing at his childlike behavior.
