I BLINKED TWICE... THRICE EVEN TO MAKE sure I'm not hallucinating at hindi ko guni-guni lang ang narinig sa kausap. I tried to open my mouth to say something but I ended up immediately closing it because I lack the reply– I don't even know what to say.

Nasa harap ko nga si Primo.

I don't know if I heard him right, though.

My confusion was answered when his smug smile slowly turned into a smirk. Masyadong natutuwa sa nakikitang reaksyon mula sa akin.

I blew the air I was holding in.

I look straight into his eyes and managed a few words after the shock has finally left me.

"Nagbibiro ka lang..."

Umarko ang kilay niya, his eyes are twinkling with amusement.

"Tell me you're joking... Binibiro mo na naman ako, Primo," I accused him.

"Alright, I'm joking," mabilis na sabi niya. The amusement never left his face and tone.

Matalim ang matang tiningnan ko siya.

He's not even taking my reaction seriously.

Bastard.

"What? Sabi mo sabihin kong nagbibiro ako. I'm just following my girlfriend's order," nang-aasar na sabi niya pagkuwa'y ngumiti nang nakakaloko.

Crap.

"Pretend girlfriend — naiwan mo ata ang pretend sa race track," I mocked him, two can play this bickering game.

"I'm pretty sure you didn't use the word pretend when you told Audrey you're my girlfriend."

I choked in my own cough.

"I don't remember saying it.." I lied, a complete obvious lie.

"I have my ways to know what you said and what you didn't, babe. My sources are credible..."

"You're lying," I denied. "Who is it? Don't tell me you had me stalked?"

"Masyado ka namang bilib sa sarili mo, Ayah. Even if I like you, I didn't come to that point — yet," he chuckled. "Regarding the information about you, my source wish to remain anonymous," aniya at inilapit ang mukha sa akin. "I like you.... and I'm not joking."

My throat dried because of discomfort. I reached for the nearest glass of water in the table then drank it.

"That's my glass," he smiled mischievously, like he won an award or something. "We indirectly kissed."

Hindi ko pinansin ang mga sinabi niya.

"-we can remove the indirectly... if you want," he teased again.

Thats it.

Tonight — I'll kill Primo.

Sa inis ko'y ibinuhos ko sa kanya ang pitsel ng tubig na katabi ng baso.

"Malamig ba?" tuya ko sa kanya.

He's dripping with water from his head hanggang sa puting t-shirt niya. He pursed his lips and looked at me. He run his finger through his hair na dahilan ng pagkagulo nito - in a manner that made him look better, unfortunately.

Pagkuway narealize ko kung ano'ng gagawin niya.

My eyes widened, my hands went mid-air to stop him. "Primo, oh my god. Don't do that – not in front of me."

Umiling-iling siya signaling me that he's not up for negotiations.

I did something I've only regretted now.
