*Spoiler ahead for those who don't read in radish*

Adaira stood in the hallway as she waited anxiously to see Lilly. It had been only an hour since she came back but it seemed like the two were in there forever. She clutched her mother's hand as she heard shouts coming from inside the room. Undoubtedly her brother was bent on sending Lillian back to her family in London.

He had shared his thoughts on sending her back only days prior but she convinced him to let her stay. For Lillains sake but also their mothers. She had been hurt enough these past ten years and she didn't know if she could handle him leaving again. Especially after finding someone who he could love, someone they has already accepted into the family.

The kidnapping only confirmed Rikkards idea of sending her back but knowing Lillian she would fight back on it. There was nothing he could say to make her leave. Hopefully.

"It's alright mother. Everything's going to be fine," she tried to make her voice reassuring but honestly she was scared. Scared that she was going to lose the only person who she truly got along with. Scared for her brother, she knew how much she meant to him though he never said a word about. She saw the way he looked at her, the way they looked at eacheother. It was as if there was nobody else in the world that mattered. Nothing could break them apart. Almost nothing. And that almost was in the form of Lord Eugene Dalgliesh.

"They've been at it since they returned Adaira." Her mother whispered. She looked down and saw the worry in her eyes.

She decided she had enough.

"I'm going to put a stop to this. Enough is enough!" Before her mother could protest she let go of her hand and started toward the doors. She stopped in front of the door and took in a deep breath. As she was about to knock, the door butts open. Lillian stood there her eyes red rimmed. It was clear she had been crying. Lillian glanced at her then away. Her eyes filled with sadness and regret. Before she could even say anything Lillian pushed passed her and left. She looked back at her retreating figure as her mother chased after her.

Anger filled her veins. Her brother stood by the window looking out into the snow. His figure rigid and as stiff as a pole.

"What did you do?" Her voice was filled with cold malice and accusation.
He didn't spare her a glance instead his eyes remained in the snow.

"Trust me, it's for the best."

Those six words confirmed what she knew earlier. Lillian was going away and probably never coming back. Though she had only known in her a short amount of time she grown to like her. The two became the best of friends and Adaira saw her as a older sister. One she always wished for. Now she was leaving.

She felt the tears start to form and tried to blink them back but she couldn't. Her brother froze as he heard her sniffle. Only then did he look back at her. Not only had he made Lillian cry the love of his life but also Adaira his little sister.
He had to stand his ground. It was for the best. Yes, for her protection. At least that what he told himself. He didn't know who he was trying to convince himself or her. He just knew she was going away and there was no getting her back.
