Chapter 5

     She liked him. She liked him! Keefe Sencen. The boy who teased and teased but hid a scared boy behind the mask. Sophie didn't know this feeling. This was more than butterflies in her stomach, more than blushing, she didn't just like him, she loved him. On the other side of the tree, Keefe facial expression lightened. Foster was here, in his presence. And she felt the emotion Keefe only felt around her and Glitter butt. Love. She felt love. Tears had stained his checks but he didn't care anymore. He always knew somehow. There was always some part of doubt in his mind about Sophie liking him. But...this was.....pure. He had never felt an emotion so strong. He got the courage to stand up and walk over to the girl he loved.
                    "Keefe I'm-"
Her apology was cut off because of a kiss. His lips pushed against her. Her lips pushed against his. (This is making me cringe) It wasn't perfect, but Sophie could practically see the sparks between them. It was exhilarating. When their lips released each other's, Sophie fell into Keefe's arms for a never ending hug. Not that Sophie wanted it to end, she wanted to stay there forever, wrapped up in Keefe's arms. Safe. Away from all her problems. They swayed back and forth until Sophie got the strength to let go.
               "You-you kissed me."
               "Indeed I did. Sophie, I love you. I have since the first day. And if you didn't figure it out for yourself already, you love me too."
                "I figured it out when I saw you at the tree. It all clicked. Keefe? Would you like to go on a date tomorrow night at 8?"
Keefe flashed his trademark smirk.
"Sure Foster, I'll pick you up. And, good luck running this over with Grady, he's not gonna be happy."
He gave her a quick hug before a beam of light flashed him away. We're they an official thing now? A "boyfriend and girlfriend?" They had to talk this out. She groaned as she realized Fitz was still inside. She'd have to tolerate his questions abut her falsely liking him. She didn't know that he was in Callas tree the whole time. He had quickly snuck out of the house and used telekinesis to get to the highest branch while remaining unseen. So when Sophie got back, she found a note. It read:
I thought you liked me, but I guess I was wrong. Have fun with your new boyfriend, "Foster." You may as well forget about me, because you won't be seeing me anytime soon. I can't stand to be around you. It's too hard. So, goodbye forever Sophie Foster

The words hurt. A lot. She wasn't suprised though. Fitz is known for his anger issues. He'll get over it. "He is so petty, how could I have ever like him" Sophie thought. Keefe would be there for her no matter what, Fitz in the other hand, leaves when the going gets tough. Now it was time to break it to Grady. Foxfire would find out soon enough, but who cares. She love Keefe and that's all that matters. Tomorrow she has her very first date. Vertina and Edaline will help her get ready and Keefe will come to pick her up. Their date will be perfect.
