"What can I give Him? Give Him my heart." I have put everything into school. My time and my patience, my heart and my soul. This is why I am proud to present examples of leadership, service, and academics.
Academics: Early on, I hadn't given school a second thought. I struggled, and it showed, because my report cards were sad. In the summer before seventh grade, I started to think about where I would be going for high school, and during that time, I realized that if I wanted to go to a good school, I would have to step it up and get good grades. Since then, I have made a few changes to my overall nightly schedule. Instead of playing video games, I do homework, and don't let it wait until the next morning, or the morning before it is due.
I found a real love of writing and reading science fiction. My teacher had referred a science fiction series to me, and I instantly got hooked. I stayed up late many nights reading or dreaming about the books. Eventually, I got to writing several short stories about it. After writing some of those, I wrote a longer story, and I plan on writing another.
While reading the books, I grew more and more interested in writing, my dream job. Of course, back when I was ten, that's all it was, a dream. Now, I have started to realize that this is a dream that I can make a reality.
While participating in fairs, such as science and social studies, I have learned that organization is key. Organizing your time properly gets things accomplished. While doing a research paper, doing the labeling of notes properly leads to even more success. These were hard lessons to learn, but I learned them.
Service: My home parish, Holy Trinity in School Hill, has a perch fry fundraiser, that my father, brother and I work, along with many parishioners. I stay there from the time they start to nearly the time they end, helping with odds and ends. This, for me, is an enjoyable task, helping out my parish.
There are other things I do for service other than the perch fry. I help out at our picnic in the park that our school holds in the beginning of the school year. The FFA Alumni of Campbellesport hosted a breakfast benefit for one of its members, a friend of my dad. I served pancakes to everyone.
Another example of my service, is being a lector during mass. At the after work Mass at Holy Trinity, I volunteer for doing the readings when I can.
Leadership: I am more of a quiet leader, leading more by example. I hope to become stronger as a leader, and stronger as a follower of God. This is why my desire to attend Roncalli is so strong.
One direct example of leadership that I can display was when our music teacher asked us who would be willing to choreograph the last verse to a song we are doing for our annual Christmas program. I raised my hand, for I was hoping for the opportunity to do such a thing. When she chose me, I became a leader for our song.
I am proud to call myself a Catholic, and a parochial school student. I would not hesitate to say, however, that there is a lot of learning left for me to do. This  is why I look forward to going to Roncalli, and having the high school experience Roncalli offers.

Sincerely,
Melody Scozwagger.
