Before I could even make it to next class I heard a voice.
'Hey' She said.
I turned around and acknowledged her with a smile. She smiled back and walked beside me.
'That was epic what you did back their. She deserved it.' She said smiling ear to ear.
I was stunned to hear a voice that wasn't criticizing me. She obviously saw the look on my face and said:
'Don't worry. I'm not like them. Your not either by the looks of it. Don't let them get you down. I've had to deal with them for ages and today was the only day they didn't say stuff to me because of you. Thanks but hopefully after what you did they'll leave us both alone.'
Wow. She was being nice to me. I felt great. I was making a friend. I wasn't sure what to say afterwards so I just smiled. She smiled back and said:
'If you want we can hang out at lunch.'
'Sure' I replied, smiling.
'Ok then! See ya!' She said running to her class.
Oh my god! Someone nice was talking to me! The worst day of my life suddenly became one of the best! I smiled ear to ear walking to geography. When that boring class was over and my next class I found my new friend. She was sitting at a table, eating a bag of popcorn. She saw me and waved frantically at me. I smiled and walked over to her.
'Hey!!!' She yelled happily and I smiled in reply.
'I'm Jennifer but you can call me Jenny' she said happily.
I smiled and said 'I'm Kara or Kay.'
'Well Kay, you gonna get something to eat?' She asked pointing at the cafeteria line.
'Nah, ain't hungry.' I simply replied and sat beside her.
She shrugged and ate her popcorn. I felt so great that I had actually made a friend. I mean great! I decided to make conversation if I wanted her to be a friend friend.
'You listen to music?' I asked casually.
'Yea! Music equals my life!'
'What type of music you listen to?'
'Well I like punk and rock and stuff.' She said kind of embarrassed. I knew exacty how she felt. I smiled and said:
'Me too!'
'OMG NO WAY!'
'yep'
'Do you like NickelBack?' Jenny asked.
'yea their good.' I replied.
We continued talking about our music interests until it became a kind of awkward silence. I looked at her outfit and studied what she was wearing. She was wearing a blue shirt that said 'Love is the truth' on it and light blue jeans. I must have looked so dumb to her.
'Wanna meet up after school on Friday?' Jenny asked, breaking the silence.
'Sure! I'd love that! Where do you wanna meet?' I asked excitedly.
'Mall?'
'Sure'
'Awesommeee!' she giggled
'I'm goin to the bathroom. I'll be only a sec.' I said standing up.
'okee dokee' She said with her mouth full.
I giggled at her and walked to the bathroom. Wait a minute. Did she just say we were meeting up AFTER school? Like a friend thing? Oh my god! She actually thinks of me as a friend!
Just before I could enter the bathroom, someone shoved me into the wall. It was the slut and her friends. They surrounded me with evil smiles plastered on their faces.
'Hey little goth girl' the slut said.
'Um hi. What do you want. I'm going to the bathroom.' I said calmly.
'Your not going anywhere loner girl.' One of them said.
Ouch. That hurt. Is that how they saw me? A loner girl? I held back my tears and pushed her out of the way then turned around and said:
'Keep your snippy comments to yourself.'
They all looked at me and laughed.
'Snippy? Haha! We're just telling you the truth hunny.' one of them laughed.
Ouch again. I forced myself to turn around and go into the bathroom but they followed me in. I closed one of the stall doors hoping they would leave me alone.
'Aw! She's hiding!' Said one of them.
'I'm not hiding! I'm using the toilet like a normal human being. Since you girls think its not normal, I'm guessing your not human.' I snapped and heard them laugh.
I flushed the toilet and went to wash my hands but was welcomed out of the stall with a face full of water. They all giggled and walked out of the bathroom. I was soaked. I grabbed a toilet roll and dried my face. What did I do to these girls? I walked out of the bathroom, holding back tears and sat back down beside Jenny. She looked at me and said:
'What happened?!'
'Nothing'
'You can trust me! Was it Lauren!?'
'Who?' I asked confused
'The girl you punched, Kay!' She giggled.
'Um yea...'
'I'm gonna kill her one of these days' Jenny said angrily.
Just after she said that, the bell rang and I walked to class, hanging my head down. Why were these girls so mean to me? Just as I walked around a corner to go to class, someone grabbed my wrist and pulled me back around the corner.
'Kara?' He asked.
I was very confused at this point. Who the heck was this boy?
'Who the heck are you?!' I half yelled.
'I'm Mike. I was at your party last month. Oh yea, and you saved me from whateva that kids name was.'
Oh shit. No no no! This can't be happening! I was hoping I would never see this kid again but now I'm stuck here with him.
'Oh um...sorry bou dat.' I said quickly and started to walk away.
'Kara wait. Don't go. I want to know why you helped me!' He said grabbing my wrist again.
'I need to get to class.'
'Tell me and I'll leave you alone.'
'I don't know. I just don't like seeing people I 'know' being hurt I guess.' I said.
'ok ok. Thanks for helping me yesterday anyway. I feel so stupid.'
'Don't worry abou it. Bye now!' I said walking away.
'Wait Kara! Have a but of patience! Please just meet me tomorrow before school. You seem really cool. Please?' He begged and I rolled my eyes.
'Fine now bye!'
'Bye Kara'
