On a lucky day, I get home from school and it feels like the day has just begun. But today I am in probably the longest, boringest, lecture ever. ( no offence to mrs. Joanna. She is probably the nicest teacher at our high school)
It is only third hour but, I feel like I have been awake forever. I kind of have though. I could not sleep last night at all. I am to excited for tonight.
I have been sixteen for 4 months. And I still haven't gone on a date. It may seem wierd to you that I wasn't aloud to date until I could drive, but it makes a lot of sence if you think about it. I don't have to ask my parents to drive me around on dates...that would be awkward.
But that is not what matters.
Tonight I am going on a double date with a guy that I have liked forever. His name is Evan, and I only really see him at church activities on Wednesday nights and sometimes in the halls at school. So it was a little awkward when I just went up and asked him if he wanted to go out and do something with katie, her date and me.
My best friend Katie said she wanted to be there for my first date so she is bringing her date who she has yet to find... as far as I know, she has asked a couple people, but they are all said they were out of town or busy.
I couldn't stand this class a moment longer. I feel like I have learned about the food chain enough times in my life to pass the pop quiz mrs. Joanna had told me would be tomorrow. I may be on her good side and get a couple sneek peaks of upcoming assignments every one can in a while. So I decided I needed to to go to the bathroom.
I gave mrs. Joanna a sign as I was leaving the room and that I would be back in a moment. For some reason she trusted me to come back soon. I don't know why everyone always trusts me, but when they do, I don't usually want to let them down. So I felt kinda bad about it.
That guilt only lasted a couple seconds though.
As my phone started dialing Katie, I hoped she wasn't in class. I hadn't thought about that. "Stupid Nicole" I said to myself.
She didn't pick up.
I started to walk back to class when my phone started vibrating.
"Hello."
"Hi, buddy the elf. What's your favorite color?" Katie answered. Ever since she watched the movie 'elf' she has answered her phone that way...every time.
"Uhhh."
"I'm totally kidding, what's up?" She asked.
"Were you in class? I don't want to bother you?" I asked. I felt so guilty.
"No, actually I just got out of the dentist. I'm going to get food." I could hear her car door close. "Are you excited about tonight?"
"I am way excited!" I admitted. I wasn't totally boy crazy like she might be, but I was excited. "And the suspense is killing me...tell me who you are bringing."
"If you say so." She sighed. " I asked my mom if she knew any guys my age I could go out with and she said there was some guy that moved into our ward last week. I totally forgot his first name. It was so wieerd! But that is not the point, he said he would come."
"Is he cute?"
"I don't know what he looks like. I just know his first name is wierd and his last name is Kent." She seemed dissapounted. "I hope he is cute though."
I then realized I had walked to the stairwell while I was talking to katie so no one would here me.
I decided I had been out of class long enough so I was headed to the door saying to Katie "Well I have to get back to class, but knowing you and your luck..he is probably way way hot!" When I saw a flash of the door opening and the corner of it hit me right on the forehead.
"Oh my gosh!" I hear the person that opened the door into my face say. "Are you allright?"
"I think so." I had said honnestly. I still had my hand on my head cradling it. It didn't hurt as much as I was in shock.
"Let me see it." He said grabbing my wrist and bringing it down slowly so he could look at my forehead.
It is then that I realized that this person was a boy. But not just any boy. This guy was probably the cutest guy I had ever seen in my life! And he hit me in the face with a door. What are the odds? Once I finally have the luck to meet a cute guy, I have to be injured and in shock!
He had dark brown hair, a little darker than mine that had the most natural look in the world and really tan skin. Not orange tan, but a nice dark tan. He was hot.
And that was when I reached his eyes. His eyes were the exact same color as fresh gooey caramel. They were so warm and welcoming, that I was in shock for a different reason.
The cutest guy ever was holding my hands (sort of) and staring at my face. I wasn't done admiring him by the time he started talking again.
"I think it will be ok," he said stepping back a little bit. "It might bruse, but it doesn't look to bad. Just a bump."
And then he bent over. I was beginning to think he was about to hurl because of how sudden he did it. But that thought quickly left as he came back up with my phone in his hand looking at the screen that was still on.
Omg! The call with katie was still happening!
"Nicole?" I could here it say.
But I just reached out and took it from the boy and ended the call.
I looked back at the boy as he reached out his hand and said "Name's Keith."
"Nicole." I said smiling and I shook his hand eager to feel them again...they were soft. But not as soft as his eyes.
I had to bend my neck quite a bit to look up at him because he was like half a foot taller than me. But it was all worth it when I saw his creamy caramel-brown eyes again. The only difference this time though, was he was looking straight at mine as well.
"Well see you around." He said rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yeah" I said way to happy to make this less awkward. Awkward is the worst and I swear everything awkward is of the devil. "I will see you later." And with that I walked to the door, opened it and went through it.
As I made my way back to my class I thought of how unboring my day had just become.
I had just met the cutest guy ever.
He said his name was Keith.
And nothing was as warm as his eyes.
