riley: "okay, let's take it from the top." unlocking your phone, you absentmindedly began to scroll through tumblr, stifling a yawn. from your chair, you looked up at riley.
'i'm sorry,' he mouthed. he had invited you to the recording of their latest cover, when i was your man, promising to take you out afterwards, but it had been going longer than expected. 'it's fine,' you mouthed back, slipping your phone back in your pocket and cuddling deeper into the comfy chair in the back of the studio. being here for four hours hadn't been so bad, especially once you'd discovered the amazing chair in the back. in fact, you'd dozed off a few times. not this time, you told yourself, vowing to support your boyfriend and actually watch them film this time. blinking a few times, you rested your head on your hand, making sure you'd stay awake this time.
"same bed but it feels just a little bit bigger now..." you couldn't help but smile when riley began to sing. you could listen to it for hours. your eyes were on him as your thoughts wandered. images flashed through your head. hearing him singing from the shower while you cooked breakfast; you wrapped in his arms as he sung you softly to sleep; his arms around you, foreheads touching, him singing to you as you danced across your living room; him holding your baby, singing softly while you watched from the door...
whoa. where had those come from? sure, you and riley had been together for a year and a half now, but that was serious. marriage? a family? the two of you were only seventeen. why would you be thinking that far ahead?
"alright, that's a wrap. thanks guys!" you were snapped back to reality by the director's voice, realizing you were still staring at riley, who was now talking to connor. connor pointed at you with a smirk, saying something to riley. he turned to look at you and you blushed, realizing what connor had said. you were staring, (y/n), you told yourself. nice going. riley smiled, approaching you.
"enjoying the view?" he asked with a smug grin, taking your hand and pulling you out of the chair.
"you're a pig," you replied, shoving him in the chest with your free hand, but you couldn't help your smile. he laughed.
"but you loooooove me," he said, pulling you into a strong hug. "what were you thinking about anyway?"
"uh..." you weren't sure if you were ready to share your scenarios with him. the two of you were still young, there was plenty of time to think about that. besides, you had schooling to worry about, he had the band. "just how much i love your voice."
"oh?" riley raised his eyebrows.
"don't get too full of yourself now," you teased. "i can still change my mind."
"but you won't," he muttered in your ear, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. "come on, i promised you a date." you giggled at his cocky confidence, deciding to go along with it because, hey, you couldn't deny the truth. as for your daydreams, you decided they were best kept your little secret. for now, at least.
thomas: "thomas!" you called, descending the stairs to his basement. his mom had let you in, informing you that he was practicing drums, directing you down the stairs. when he was thirty minutes late picking you up for your anniversary date, you'd grown worried, especially when he didn't answer his phone. now that you were here, the fact that he was practicing drums relieved you at first, but then just made you angry. "thomas!" on the last step, you found him banging away at his drum set, donned in athletic shorts, his shirt on the floor next to him. when you had first come down, you were ready to give him a piece of your mind, but now you weren't even sure you could form words. he was so into it, you couldn't bring yourself to stop him. the way his muscles rippled didn't hurt either. leaning your head on the banister of the staircase, you gazed at him, forgetting you were mad in the first place.
