braiden: "thank you, happy valentine's day," you said, handing a bouquet to a student.  they left the classroom, and you went over to dig your lunch out of your backpack.  it was only lunchtime, and it had been a long day.  you were in the environmental club at boone, and had been selling flower arrangements all day for a fundraiser.  digging through your backpack, you realized that you had forgotten your lunch on the counter this morning.

"this is not happening," you mumbled to yourself, your stomach emitting a low growl.

"hungry?"  you looked up to see braiden looking at you, laughing.  when you had joined environmental club, you two had become quick friends, and worked on many projects together.  you really liked spending time with him, sometimes more than you'd like to admit.

"starving," you said.  "but unfortunately, i left my lunch at home."

"here," he said, immediately handing over half of his sandwich.

"no," you said, shaking your head.  "i can't take your lunch."

"i insist," he said, pushing it towards you.

"no," you replied.

"then at least let me buy you lunch," he said, but you shook your head.  "either take half the sandwich, or let me buy you lunch.  it's up to you."

seeing that you were stuck, you took half of the peanut butter sandwich.  "thank you."

"you're welcome," he said, looking satisfied, as he took a bite of his half.  "so, got any plans for valentine's day?"

"besides selling flowers for the entirety of my school day?  i've got a hot date with a box of tissues and the notebook tonight," you replied jokingly.

"sounds like fun.  mind if i crash?" he asked, taking you by surprise.

"uh, yeah, sure.  if you want to," you replied.

he smiled.  "good.  because i really like you, and i kinda made you an arrangement," he said, disappearing into the science closet for a minute and returning with an elaborate arrangement of roses and lilies.  your heart leapt out of your chest.

"braiden, they're beautiful."

"i know this is the oldest one in the book, but, just like you," he said with a grin.  "i can't wait for our movie date tonight."

you reached for his hand, linking your fingers.  "me either."

thomas: "we're really having a valentine's day date at jimmy john's?"

"you love jimmy john's!"

you groaned.  "i know...but it's valentine's day.  i was thinking a little more...romantic?"

"okay, i'm just picking up sandwiches.  i promise, there's more," he said, pecking your cheek.  "you can even wait in the car.  number six, no cucumbers?"

you smiled.  "you know me too well." he pecked your cheek again before getting out of the car, returning in five minutes with sandwiches.

"so, do i get to know this fabulous surprise?" you asked, as he put the bag in the backseat.

"nope," he replied, getting in the driver's seat and holding out a blindfold.

you gave him your best 'look.'  "really?"

"yes, put it on, or we'll have our date right here in the car."  sighing, you took it and wrapped it around your eyes, wondering what exactly could be so special that he had to hide it from you.  the two of you made small talk as he drove, stopping about twenty minutes later.
