A New Hope

It was the end of the block for the captured victims. They stayed in their chambers in silence. None spoke a word. They were broken, defeated, and empty. Hearts ached and minds strained. Only the quiet weeping of Honey Lemon was heard, mourning for her lost boyfriend, whom she loved and secretly hoped to wed one day. Hiro, in the cage next to her, was in deep shock and grieving to where his brain couldn't even function. What was he to do now without his brother, his closest friend? He just sat on the platform in his stall, and wrapped his arms around his legs, closing his eyes, sitting against the cement structure. Penny was on the other side of that wall sitting up and leaning on it. She felt awful for Hiro and couldn't help being responsible. Was it her fault? Wilbur was close by standing up, grasping on the metal bars separating him and the outside world. Maybe if he had only thought of a plan to stop the monster, they could've destroyed it. He sighed and looked over at the chamber next to him. He wanted to talk to Violet so bad, to apologize again. Violet didn't want an apology, she wanted to get out of there. Sadly, all hope seemed lost and she just sat in the corner, invisible. What she had to offer as a real super failed. If she couldn't get her friends out of this mess, how can she save anyone else? Andy couldn't get Anna out of his mind. She was in the cage next to him, freezing to death. Anna laid in a ball trying to warm herself up but it didn't do much. Everything seemed gone, their whole worlds demolished.

Penny sat there thinking about what everyone must be feeling right now. She turned her head, resting on the wall and spoke low, "Hiro..are you feeling ok?" It was silent with no response, but she knew he was listening. She sighed, "Listen, I'm sorry for acting so awful to you when you were apologizing to me. I was just upset, but I took it a little too far. And I'm sorry for what happened to..Tadashi." Her breath shook as she adjusted her position, "I know how it feels to lose someone. You know about my father taking off when I was young and I never saw him again. Well..I found out from my mom that..h-he has a new family. He's HAD a new family. A wife, and two kids," she made a grim laugh, "and he said he wasn't ready for a family to commit to. So, I'm not sure how I should feel about it..it's painful. And with what happened to Tadashi, I'm just saying I know it hurts, a lot." Silence overtook until Hiro's voice came from the other side, "I'm sorry about your dad, Penny." Penny replied back, "I'm sorry about your brother." Hiro's eyes welded up with tears and he started to cry quietly, covering his face. Hearing slight sniffles from her boyfriend, Penny shut her eyes and whimpered as well leaning towards Hiro's wall.

Wilbur heard every word of their conversation, actually everyone in that room did, yet no one answered. Violet didn't wanna admit it, but she was feeling guilty for her actions. Wilbur and Violet said at the same time, "I'm sorry." They both looked up in surprise and nervously smiled. Wilbur rubbed his neck, "Hey, I'm sorry for keeping that thing from you, I thought it was the right decision to do at the time-"

"No, it's my fault. I was too harsh. I just didn't like the suspiciousness with you guys. Like, we're all friends right? Why have secrets?" Wilbur reached through his bars and held his hand out by Violet's cage, "Well once we get out of here, I promise, no more secrets." Violet grasped Wilbur's hand and smiled a little even in their situation, "I wish I can see your face.."

"Yours is always on my mind," he sighed, "I love you, you know that?" Violet nodded from the other side, "Yeah, but you sometimes don't show it."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I always see Hiro and Penny have cute moments while we are just standing there like idiots." He laughed a little, "I still don't get it." Violet rolled her eyes, "He gave her a 1st day at Disney sticker while you ran off to throw up." Wilbur frowned, "Oh, I see. I'm sorry Violet, I never knew you felt that way." Violet shrugged, "Well I didn't wanna make a big fuss about it.."
