She woke up with a kiss from James before he packed his things and they went down to the lobby .
"I'm going to miss you so much. Call me everyday, okay?" Alexandria whispered with a pout as she wrapped her arms around his neck, drawing her lips to his.
"Mm, I will, Ale. Don't worry." He muttered against her lips, pulling away and resting his forehead against hers, his dark eyes searching her own. "Talk to me, okay?"
Alexandria caught her breath, biting her lip as she looked into his beautiful dark eyes. She knew she wouldn't keep true to his words. She couldn't. Not when her heart was breaking with every second she was near him.
"I'll try, but I can't make any promises." She whispered, pouting as he placed her back on the floor.
"I love you." He said, squeezing her hand with a small chuckle.
"I love you too. Be safe." She muttered, stepping on her tiptoes to peck his lips.
Remorse was in her voice as she spoke those four words. The truth behind them no longer there. They were words without meaning, being spoken to give her the slightest false hope that things between them would work.. but she didn't know if they could.
Alexandria bit her lip as she watched him walk out the door, waving once to him as he turned back to look at her. She breathed out a little once her fiancé was out of sight. She turned around and pulled her sweater tightly around her body.
It was time for her to go to work.

The Vienna Summit was her fourth United Nations Conference she has ever been apart of as a delegate for Great Britain. It wouldn't be fair for her to say that she still didn't get nervous.
She stood alone in the massive bedroom of her suite, her pieces of clothing resembling a giant dark stain on the slick white comforter. She slipped on her black body-con dress, turning around to zip up the back. It was modest enough for the occasion, just above her knees with a scooped neckline that showed just enough cleavage to make her seem womanly and sensual but not provocative and sexual. She grabbed her black blazer, slipping it atop her dress, sighing as she looked herself in the mirror.
It was the same woman who fell in love with James year ago, at least, physically. But inside, she was broken. She could no longer recognize the girl inside. She was a jumbled mess of emotions and confusion. She didn't know how to fix herself.
She reached for her tube of red lipstick, her finger brushing over the the silver necklace with the J on it that James had given her their last night in England together. It was only two days ago but it felt like months. She only took it off to go sleep last night because James was with her. She didn't need a necklace to comfort her.
She gingerly touched the necklace, picking it up in her hand, playing with the pendant before placing it back down. She picked up her lipstick and started to apply it, letting the makeup glide smoothly against her lips. She placed it down once she was done and stared at herself in the mirror, her eyes sweeping over her appearance. She gripped the counter tightly as she closed her eyes and took a breath.
"Shit." She muttered in a panic as she opened her eyes.
She was going to be late.
Alexandria grabbed the chain without thinking and slipped it around her neck as she ran across the room to sleep into a pair of sleek black pumps. She grabbed her briefcase, quickly making sure that everything was inside, including her phone before she ran out of the bedroom as fast as she could, through the suite until she reached the door.
She was panting heavily. Running in a blazer was not fun. She adjusted her dress as she took a breath, brushing her hair out her face as she exited her room.
"Tanya Jones!" She practically yelled from across the hall.
Alexandria walked across the hall and knocked on her friend's door, calling her name repeatedly until the door was opened.
"I know. Re-lax. We're not going to be late." Tanya said as she whipped open the door, a quirky expression on her face.
"I can't be late. We can't be late, dumbass." She replied, rolling her eyes as Tanya walked out the door, taking her sweet time to shut the door and make sure it's locked.
"Oh shit, bitch." Tanya said as she checked her phone. "We are late. Let's GO!" She yelled as the two ran down to the elevator like their four inch heels were running shoes.
••••••
The two arrived at the UN complex in Vienna with a few minutes to spare. Except for the fact that they almost died with Tanya's crazy driving.
The building was made of beautiful glass, letting in the most natural light, making Alexandria feel less nervous and more relaxed. Though, her heart was still pounding.
She was on the younger side when it came to members of the delegation, but she was one of the most active people in the panel. For her age she was very outspoken, active in her views, and always fighting for what she thought was the best resolution, adding to the views of her country.
The two women walked out of the elevator, their badges with their delegations shining as they made their way into the conference room.
Room was a mild way to put it. Overlooking the rich blue of the Lake before them with floor to ceiling windows and seats with desks packed in rows like an amphitheatre. It was gorgeous.
Alexandria made her way towards where Great Britain was seated, saying goodbye to Tonya on the way over. She nodded over to few acquaintances whom she got to know over the years, saying the odd "Hello" and "How are you doing?" or "How are the kids?"
She eventually found her way over to Great Britain's assigned seat, gently placing her briefcase down on the table, opening it with a soft clack of the locks. She was about to open it when she heard the voice that made her grit her teeth and her face fume with deep anger.
"Ms. Sjöberg. How are you doing?" A deep voice with a strong Cheshire accent spoke from behind her.
She didn't want to turn around. In fact, she wanted to punch the voice behind her in his perfect teeth. Alexandria has given up, not wanting to do anything at this point. She figured she could just ignore the man since she had no business with him. But, if he was here, didn't that mean that she had business with him?
"What are you doing here, Christian?" She said with a roll of her electric blue eyes to face the disgraced king.
"Same as you, darling." He smirked triumphantly, taking her hand in his.
She shivered slightly, his fingers cold to the touch but his eyes were fiery as hell. He brought up her hand and pressed his lips to them in meaning, causing her heart to sound like a pounding drum in her ears.
"I have to work." He finished as he dropped her hand. "Time to go take a seat." He smirked as he walked off to the speaker's podium.
