Chapter 5

"So is it true? You and resident emo?" Kevin gushed while on the other line. "What? No Kevin. What are you talking about? It was just a candid shot. Why would you have an impression that we are together. I've only been here for a week and you expect me to start a romantic venture?" Jughead actually took a photo of me while I was in daze thinking of the "getting to know each other stage" he mentioned earlier. I was going t ignore the fact that he posted a picture of me and pretend like its nothing. However, thanks to Kevin and his curiosity, I can't get it out of my mind. "I totally understand the lack of Jughead's romantic gestures and social abilities but you don't have to hide this budding romance. I mean, I know for one that someone in our circle of friends like him but still you made your first move so I guess you've won his heart." Taken aback from what Kevin said I couldn't find the right words to say. Does that mean that one of the other two girls I hang out with likes Jughead? Doesn't that mean I made things worse by saying yes to his proposal? "I didn't win anything Kevin and what do you mean someone likes him already? Does Betty or Veronica have feelings for him?" It seems like my gayest of them all didn't realize he just spilled some tea. "Did I say anything like that? What I was trying to say was, any girl would win his heart even if he is not sociable." This answer is just making me laugh. It was clearly obvious that he said something he shouldn't have. "Right, whatever floats your boat Kevin. I'll see you in school. Bye." You could tell the discomfort I had when he said that. I guess I just have to ignore it since I don't want any drama and probably neither anyone of my friends want that.

Sunday's are rather dreadful. It gives me the impression of a long hard battle in school with all the studying and jocks I have to encounter. Getting pass through them does have its perks since I could learn from them. However, the thought of being interrogated by Veronica and Betty about an Instagram post is already making me shudder. I don't want to explain myself by something that's not too trivial. To add to that, I promised myself that I'll ignore it since I don't want any gap and cold shoulder treatment from whoever likes lonely boy. I went downstairs to grab something to eat, I saw my mom there and I have never been happier to see her. "Hi, Mom! I missed you so much. All you've done after your welcome party is to work and work and work. You don't have time for me anymore." I pretended to pout which made my mom giggle and hug me tightly. "I'm sorry dear. You what it's like working for the local newspaper, I have to make sure that every scoop is perfect. So how's your first week? Did you meet new friends? Better question, did you meet any boy. Like for example the guy who walked you home yesterday?" this is why I didn't want to happen. My mom can be a bit excessive when it comes to asking questions. "Mom, one question at a time okay? Yes, I did meet new friends. Five to be exact, they are all kind. The guy who walked me home yesterday was one of them. No, I am not interested in meeting any boy at the moment because I have to focus on adjusting here first." She was looking at me with smirk; I swear to God I wanted to run to my room that instant.

The weekend came to an end and it was time for me to go attend school again. I said goodbye to my mom and headed out. I'll have to go home early today since my mom and I will be having dinner together. She's free from overtime today! I can't wait to spend quality time with her. Especially, right after what we talked about yesterday. On my way to school, I heard someone call my name and saw that it was Archie. "Hi, Archie! Good morning. You seem happy today. Did you have a great weekend?" his smile was from ear to ear and it somehow made me feel like smiling too. He told me that he wrote some lyrics which he's really proud of and think that it could be one of his greatest masterpieces. I told him I'd listen to him but if possible during lunch since I have to go home early, which he agreed to.

I entered the classroom and saw Veronica waving at me. I waved back and sat next to the free sit beside her. Panic was starting to get through me because from the looks of it she has something to ask or tell me. "So, how's your first weekend in Riverdale?" she asked me while giving her best smiles. "It went well. I went out on Saturday and stayed home on Sunday, How about you?" Trying my best to dodge any unnecessary discomfort which to my luck she took. "Just the normal, mani's and pedi's. I did stay at home as well since this town as you know is lacking of fun places to go to." Tell me about it. The only decent place to go here would probably be Pop's or Sweetwater River. I haven't been there though since I know that is where they found Jason Blossom's body.

It was now lunch, the moment which Archie has been waiting for considering he was waiting for me outside my class. The class I have before lunch was rather convenient since I don't have to look for my other friends because V and B are both in that class with me. "Archie can you relax? We know you're excited for us to hear the song but get yourself together okay?" Betty told Archie. He was quite all over the place maybe this peace is really that magnificent considering the reaction and mood he's in. We were later joined by Jughead and Kevin in our usual lunch spot. Before Archie could play his song, a storm suddenly stopped by where we were. "Y/N L/N, the new girl. It's nice to meet you. I'm Cheryl Blossom Captain-" "of Riven Vixen so I've heard. It's nice to meet you too." I cut her off. This was my first time meeting Cheryl. Was I scared? Yes. By the looks of it she exuded the Queen Bee aura and I didn't like the last bit of it. "I see you've stumbled upon the Sad Breakfast Club here. If you're having trouble with socializing to students here don't hesitate to find me. Let's be friends, my handle on Twitter is @CherylBombshell follow me and I'll do the same." She was talking in a calm manner but you can definitely feel that she's not all bark and can bite you the moment you decide to let your guard down. "Thank you for the offer, but unfortunately I don't have a Twitter account. Don't worry though, if anything comes up I'll be sure to look for you." I smiled. "How sad, I'll look forward to the day of us having deep chats about life then. Bye." With that that evil queen left. Everyone seemed to have released a breath of relief the moment her silhouette vanished. "I have to hand it to you Y/N. Talking to Madame Satan is not that easy, she would insult you there and then. I'm quite surprised that she didn't drag you down with her pitchfork." Everyone just looked at Kevin. I actually admire his courage to say whatever is in his mind. I think this helps him to be more at ease.

"Thatwas amazing Archie!" I gave a compliment. Archie's passion for music is indeedcommendable. He pursues his dreams without letting anyone step on him. What areal man. "Why don't you try out for the Pussycat Arch? You'll be an amazingaddition to their group." Betty said. "Well hate to break it to you Betts butJosie is a self-centered feline. She'd do anything even snap her fingers allday to maintain and keep her position to herself only." Jughead said. I didn't knowthe leader of Pussycats would be that type. Not a cheerleader but has the attitudeof one. "You know Jughead your commentary for certain things can be on par withthe evil queen herself." Kevin giving an insult or rather a compliment toJughead. "Excuse you Keller, I for one cannot be on the same level as thatpsycho. I can be grounded, quiet and humble if I want to. You can ask Y/N ifyou want. She'll defend me since she saw it last weekend." I choked on the greensI was eating. Being put on the spot I least wanted to was just a low blowJones. Guess, I'll have to say something to make the curious gaze of four pairsof eye disappear. "He can be quiet and least sarcastic when he's focused. Ofcourse I don't know much since we just met and we just had milkshake at Pop'sfor a short period of tie unlike you guys who's known him for a long time now."I fake laughed. The conversation went through but I suddenly felt a weirdtension. I was stared at for a good five seconds without the others knowingsince they were listening to Archie's song again. I pretended not to notice it thenlooked back to the person who I saw looking at me and just smiled. Betty smiledback.
