Today’s the first day of school at Sky High. I know the name is kinda lame but what can you do? Some of the people from my old middle school are here and for some reason girls keep making googly eyes at me and hitting each other every time I pass by. What’s up with that? I don’t get chicks at all. I checked the roster to see which class I ended up in, 1 – B. Some familiar names are in my class, others I’ve never heard of before. Ugh, who cares? I’ll just do what I always do, disappear into the crowd. No one ever really interests me. Everyone is the same, I’m the only one who’s different. Though I prefer that I don’t draw much attention to myself, that’s why I like to blend in. I took a seat near the window. At least now I’ll be able to avoid all those googly girls. They’re seriously creepy. Don’t they know that watching someone makes them feel uneasy? Suddenly, I heard someone take the seat behind me. It was a girl. Don’t tell me that she’s one of those. Ringggg. There goes the bell then classes started. The introductions were made and turns out her name was……. Umm….. What was it again? Hi….. Hi……. Hineko? I dunno, that doesn’t sound right but I guess it’s close enough. First girl I’ve met who hasn’t been giving me weird looks. Finally classes are over. My part time job is totally awesome. I fix cars and the pay is awesome too. My family earns a lot of money but I don’t get any money from them. I wanted to try to be independent, work for myself and I’ve been doing great. I started to head home when I saw that girl walking out of a bakery. What was she doing going home by herself at night? She could get hurt or kidnapped or something! “Hey!” I yelled but she didn’t even turn around, guess she thinks that I’m not calling her. Think dude, think, what was her name? Umm……. “Hineko!” Yes! She turned around but I don’t think I got her name right. She said her name was Himeko not Hineko, which makes a lot more sense than Hineko. She let me bring her home and she cooked me dinner. Man, it was totally delicious! I loved it! Afterwards, I took care of the dishes and Himeko was watching TV. Himeko was flipping channels for a while then suddenly the remote fell to the floor. I took a look at her and saw that she fell asleep. She looked really cute. I moved the table to the side and brought out a futon. I tucked her in and turned off her TV. There’s no way I can go home now! She lives in such a shady place, I can’t just leave her here alone. I dragged out the other futon and put it next to hers. It was way too early for me to sleep. I turned to my right and saw Himeko sleeping soundly. How could she stay here, in this part of town in a rundown place? That’s it, I’ve decided. I have an extra room at my place, I’ll invite her to live with me. What could go wrong, right?
The next morning I woke up to the feeling of a pillow slamming right into my face. Himeko’s face was burning red! It was so cute. She was making a really big fuss about me staying overnight and how I might’ve done some weird things to her. But the time she woke up me up, 5:00am. Who gets up this early? I went to take a shower while Himeko was making breakfast. Then out of nowhere, she screamed. I didn’t have time to get any clothes on, I bolted out of there in nothing but a towel. She burned the food and it started a mini fire. Luckily, it was put out. In the end we had toast with butter then later on we left for school. During break I asked Himeko to live with me but she didn’t give me a yes or a no. So to prove my worthiness, I decided to take her out and spend the whole day with her. But of course I won’t let her spend the night alone in her shady apartment. So I slept there again to make sure that she would stay safe.
The next morning we went out. I took her to the amusement park. “So what do you want to do first?” I asked her. “How about the roller coaster?” “Sure, looks like fun.” We went on different rides and had tons of fun together. Then we went to the concert. It was featuring Naori, a great band. Himeko looked like she was having a great time. She was smiling, jumping, shouting, she was glowing. Well not literally glowing, you know the figure of speech. When the concert finally ended, I asked about the final verdict. “So, you think you can trust me to be your roommate?” I asked her. She gave me a smile “Yeah, so when do I move in?” I laughed and we went to her apartment to pick up her stuff. When we entered my apartment she dropped her stuff, luckily I was holding the computer. “Something wrong?” I asked her. “It’s…… It’s huge!” she said. “Really? Guess I never really noticed.” “This place must cost a fortune!” “Nope, that’s what makes it even better. Make yourself at home.” I showed her to her room. There was a ready-made bed, a desk and chair and a nice window. As she got settled in, I decided to show off my culinary skills. I decided to make curry for her. “Hey, what’s that smell?” she said poking her head into the kitchen. “Oh, I thought that while you get settled in I’d make dinner. Hope you like curry.” “Wow! This is really yummy!” Himeko said it with a really big smile which made me happy. “Glad you like it.” The rest of the night went smoothly. She fell asleep on the couch after a while. It made me wonder if she ever really used the futons in her old apartment. She’s so cute when she’s sleeping. Well time to put her to bed again.
